Unfortunately I'm starting to think It's PJ Carlesimo and they're waiting until he's done announcing at the Olympics to announce his hiring.

PJ Carlesimo would be a hard sell in Portland. PJ’s “style” created a lot of bad blood within the Blazer’s organization.

If my memory is working today, there was a story going around that he created problems on the first day on the job. PJ pissed off Terry Porter big time, on the first day of practice. PJ never got along with many of his players.

I doubt Mr. Allen would want PJs abrasive personality having an influence on the great culture this team now has. But that is only my guess, and hope.

In interviews, Carlesimo seemed to have a hyperactive gland problem. The interviewer would ask him a simple question and never get to the second question, because of the long boring answer, spoken at maniacal speed by the crazyman. I thought and still think that he had some physical problem.

He would repeat obvious high school-level fundamentals ad nauseum, shouting at his veteran players, who knew the game much better than he did. The media has always hated Sprewell for choking him when he coached Golden State, but I sympathized.

Carlesimo learned to slow down as Popovich's assistant coach. Then he was Sonic head coach and spoke much more thoughtfully than he had years earlier as Blazer coach. He may finally have grown up.
