Stotts and Mgmt: This is really starting to bug me

only disagreement is that Pav-Jeffries-Price and even babbit IMO realistically cannot do anything at his point to change there trade value, that is a pipe dream IMO. I'd prefer to keep this year's pick and try to add value to guys who will be here next yr like Leonard-Claver-Freeland-Barton by playing them. I see both sides, this route is my preference.

Mine as well, but to appease LA, I think he has done a great job of mixing both

I think we are talking about a difference of perhaps winning a handful of games, we still play to win as frankly the difference in bench performance, no matter who plays is minimal. IMO "appeasing LMA" will have the best results if we are a much more serious contender NEXT year.

Again, you are preaching to the choir. If it were me I would have started Leonard from day one and seen if Barton could start next to Lillard or give him significant minutes off the bench. That being said, I don't believe for a second that Olshey wants Hickson back, and because of his play this season, teams have reached out to his agent to gauge his interest in relocating to that team. Stotts has had to see if Babbitt could play on the team next year. I believe he can, but wouldn't natter either way.

per Stotts: "we needed toughness and experience", so I played Jeffries-Sasha-Price, just fukkin A great, we lose anyway and other guys who WILL BE HERE get NO experience when they really need it

You do realize we were in this game until 2 minutes left. What would you say if we won?

Fully agree except for babbitt, he's a shooter who is simply not shooting well and the rest of his game IMO is lousy, I think he is and should be gone

I think Babbitt will be staying honestly. Unless he must be used in a deal before deadline. If Babbitt is still on the team before deadline; I suspect him to resign with the blazers for cheap.

Surprisingly, last year after ass clown was fired, Luke had PERs in Feb and Mar of 16.77 and 16.62 in 19 games. He is not great, I get that, but he might not be horrible either.

He has been down this season, but I'm not sure he wouldn't be a great guy to have on the end of a bench just in case. If nothing else he forces the other team to come out on him making it easier for LA to operate

the exact same thing Mags, does it really matter in the scheme of things whether we won or lost last night? IMO this is short thinking vs bigger picture and doing what's best for this team longer term - and setting us up to win the best we can the next several years for me is way more important than winning or losing a handful of games this year..

if he stays for Claver pay level (1 mil or so per) then ok, but I think we can do better

Huh, Nolan has a PER of 22.10 this month since getting consistent playing time (9mpg)

Hickson PER by month is interesting also

18.22
24.80
19.65
16.82

Seems to be trending the wrong way?

They are rookies that are still extremely raw. I doubt they are moved because they are still cheap; with the exception of Leonard.

The bigger picture is Aldridge bring 28. We need to set a winning culture and lure free agents here. By the time Leonard is even worthy of starting; Aldridge will be 31. That's past his prime years. We need players that already need to contribute. Leonard, Barton and freeland aren't even close.

if they "aren't close" then we may well play them and get them "closer", and if they don't improve then get rid of them IF we can. IMO this is the season to do at least a good amount of that, frankly th other choices off the bench are not significantly better

But the value of those players would diminish rapidly if we played them and they looked like shit. Maybe stotts is seeing something in practice that he doesn't want to expose; so oshley can use them in trades.

LOL, is this a serious thought? there value is already so low there is perhaps 100% upside and 10% down, IMO of course

I care more about developing Lillard than any of the rest, and I think playing in tight ball games with experienced players is going to be better for his overall development than playing alongside young guys in a blowout. Rather him develop ala Rose than Wall, basically. Learn good habits over bad.

I agree. You don't want Lillard coasting through the season knowing that nobody cares if it is a W or a L. Same actually could be said for Nik.

come on guys, we still play to win, we just give guys like Leonard-Claver-Barton more and regular playin time, I am not talking starting, just steady bench minutes so they can get into a flow

Last night's choice of bench players was totally about matchups. The Heat play small and Stotts was making the best moves he had available to adjust to the rotations the Blazers were facing. I thought it was brilliant coaching on his part. As far as developing the young guys goes, there will be plenty of nights the rest of the season for them to get minutes against players that they do match up with. The Blazers played some inspired ball and were in the game until the last few minutes. I swear some of you just like to bitch for the pure thrill of it.

It's not just a management decision. You have guys like Dame/LA/Wes who are going all out to get a win. What does it say to them when you have Stotts playing clearly inferior players minutes and hurting their chances at winning?

A lot of these young guys' development has to happen behind the scenes in practices. It's a bit unfortunate, but the right thing to do.

Who is to say at this point on who is inferior vs another on our bench? It is all about the same.

Where do you get monthly PER #s? Interested in seeing how Nic/Dame are doing

real gm

under NBA/Player Stats. The easiest thing to do from there is scroll down to #8 where LaMarcus is and click on him. After that, on the top right you can change the player. It defaults to player profile so click on NBA. Then you can play with the stats

Myers would have clearly hurt us if he played instead of Jeffries last night. His play hasn't warranted minutes at all, and he obviously looks over matched out there.

But ya, to an extent, it's like the best of the worst.

I think Jeffries vet savy is great and was warranted against a team like the Heat but advanced stats say that he is no better than Myers. So if you are talking 1 game I agree. If you are talking in general (and going forward) then refer to my previous point of them all being about the same.

This. Play to win. Repped.

Are you really not playing to win with Leonard, Barton, Freeland, Claver and Smith getting minutes instead of Hickson, Price, Pavlovic and Jeffries?
If Leonard and Barton played in place of Jeffries and Pavlovic last night, we lose by 40+.

Nice efort tonight and yet the almost inevitable loss to Miami. Yes Jeffries had a nice game but in reality what does that do for our Future? Meyers does not get a minute, nor does Claver, nor does Barton. But guys who will very likely not be here play a lot - Jeffries and Sasha. Just What the FUK is goin on? What does this do for us? This pisses me off, thx for lettin me vent.

Trade deadline is coming. You have to show it off if you want something in return.
