Don't forget my man CJ Elleby, the best defender on the team!
He’s going to defend the hell out of the G League.

Yes he had played different coverage but his drop defense where he drop his big man under the basket was his premier defense though and that was use 90 percent or more in games. He did change how he played Houston against Harden. Blazers defense was not aggressive type defense under Stotts since he been here.I thought so too; but then I went back and read the Stotts quote again. And he is actually claiming we have always used multiple coverages, and are now just going to be more "aggressive". I guess it's still confusing. Lillard seems to think we are doing something completely new, but more simple. Stotts seems to be saying we are doing the same thing, but more aggressively? I guess Stotts is saying we have done some of this stuff in the past, but now we will do a lot more of the multiple coverages.
He's gonna earn some minutes on the actual team with his defense, not many defenders at his levelHe’s going to defend the hell out of the G League.

I think eventually you're going to regret questioning Coach Stopps. The fact that Terry Stotts said it was a "difficult decision" to change the Defense after finishing 27th in defensive ranking is worrisome
I'm just wondering why he struggles to change a bad defenseI think eventually you're going to regret questioning Coach Stopps.
I'm just kinda kidding and being very hopeful at the same time but if he can start to make adjustments because he has more versatile personnel, I'll be there praising him and calling him Coach Stopps.I'm just wondering why he struggles to change a bad defense
That shouldn't be the reason he makes adjustments though, he could've made adjustments all last year, and there was no reason not to considering how horrible our primary defense was.I'm just kinda kidding and being very hopeful at the same time but if he can start to make adjustments because he has more versatile personnel, I'll be there praising him and calling him Coach Stopps.
To me the problem last year besides injuries to our better defenders was having to use 19 different starting lineups trying to find someone who could make a shot and defend well enough to stay on the court....was a rough year on that side of the ballThat shouldn't be the reason he makes adjustments though, he could've made adjustments all last year, and there was no reason not to considering how horrible our primary defense was.
You really thought they were going to effectively implement a completely new defense in a couple days?well, the changed defense gave up 52% FG's, 41% three's, and 39 assists tonight
maybe they should change back

So you just pulled a random quote from nowhere without any context behind it...To be fair, Stotts said "we'll still have multiple coverages... but our primary coverage will be more aggressive." Doesn't sound like he's implementing a wholesale change by any means. In the past, many have said being more aggressive wouldn't be that hard to do.

They also ran drop coverage at least 95% of the time last year, they didnt really run "multiple coverages" and the base scheme they've ran this preseason they didnt run last year.
I'm referring to the " In the past, many have said being more aggressive wouldn't be that hard to do.".That quote from Stotts saying they will continue to run mutliple coverages is in this thread and you were the one who posted it, how is that out of context?
It was definitely a problem, and a problem we couldnt control. What we could control was how we responded to that and what we did defenisively. To me the problem last year besides injuries to our better defenders was having to use 19 different starting lineups trying to find someone who could make a shot and defend well enough to stay on the court....was a rough year on that side of the ball
FixedTo me the problem last year and this year is Stotts is a terrible coach
Not with this tbh. The defensive philosophy this year is exactly what we needed for yearsFixed

nah.....I think Stotts is a good coach...you can disagree...I'm used to it. He's a coach I can cheer for....I like loyalty in the front office. Not a fan of the revolving coaching door that people scream for after a couple losses...see the KnicksFixed
Hard to tell man. Theres some people seriously freaking out about this.you really think people won't be sarcastic around here?
Might be SLIGHTLY out of context, but...
