Damnit. I was hoping for just one year. He's not the coach to take us to the next level without help.
There's nothing preventing Allen firing him in two years if it doesn't work out. Happens all the time in the NBA.
I know that. Still frustrating though.
If coaches can't get an extension after taking a team from 33 wins to 54 and getting to the second round, then something is very, very wrong. I'm not 100% sold on Stotts either, but I'm all for rewarding performance.
Hopefully he bolsters his staff with a defensive coordinator type this summer so this team actually has a shot of being more than just fun to watch (in addition to Olshey bolstering the roster).
He better hire somebody good to handle the defense.
Baskets are a traditional and honorable form of cases.
I'm not a fan of extending contracts before the current one runs out, unless it's for an absolute no-brainer: Pops, LBJ, maybe Durant.Seriously you guys are upset? He's only made the playoffs 1 other time, that was as an 8 Seed with Milwaukee. He is learning how to coach in the playoffs as well. He did fine agains a bad coach, and got schooled by Pops, which is nothing be ashamed of.
Its Paul Allen's money and doesn't effect our cap so I fully support it.
If we traded Stotts for any coach on the planet I don't think this team accomplishes more. We need some roster help or growth of young players to take the next step.
Hard not to like this IMO. 54 win team with the worst bench in the league.
