Stotts set to ink multi-year extension

My question is, how many of those were within 3 points? It seemed a ton of them were. Even 5 points?

Losses within 5 points: 14! 9 within 3 points.

Also interesting: we won 15 games by 5 points or less, and 8 by 3 points or less.

Now bring in a Gary Payton as an assistant for the defense.

The real sign of success: San Antonio only had 11 games won or lost within 5 points, and were 10-1 in that situation.

Fewer close games, and a better record among them.

That should be our regular season goal.

Mo Williams gets free reign to make mistake after mistake

TRob, Will, CJ, etc get pulled after 1-2 mistakes

He's not doing a good job of developing his bench

Seriously you guys are upset? He's only made the playoffs 1 other time, that was as an 8 Seed with Milwaukee. He is learning how to coach in the playoffs as well. He did fine agains a bad coach, and got schooled by Pops, which is nothing be ashamed of.

We'll have a fun team to watch during the season.

not buying this. Those young guns making mistake after mistake and being left in would get Stotts just as crucified as he already is by a small few here.

A coach who has overcome a lot of naysayers to take a team to playoff record and win a series for the first time in the 14 years. Still has some major holes he needs to work on, set plays and
defense. But knows the first rule in coaching, not to beat himself. Kudos to Oshey and Allen.

I'm not a fan of extending contracts before the current one runs out, unless it's for an absolute no-brainer: Pops, LBJ, maybeDurant

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Well that's not true. If we had Popovich I guarantee our bench and young guys would be better developed. That guy is better than any coach I have ever seen at developing role players to succeed in his system.

Agree to disagree. I don't think this roster makes the WCF if Pop is cloned and coaching both teams. Splitter outplayed LaMarcus the whole series and I don't believe that had anything to do with coaching.

21-22 vs teams .500 or better

Yeah thank for finding that stats, it shows Stotts was really good! If we can consistently bump that up to 4-3 against the best teams we'll win the title!

Yeah, I don't think that was RoyToy's intent when he posted those stats.

I'm pleased with this signing but what i'm more happy about is just how quick we did it. Shows that we want to reward success and build something stable.

Well, I'm happy for Terry. He helped turn around this franchise and he deserves to be rewarded for it.

I really couldn't fathom people complaining about Stotts being signed to an extension... Or wanting him gone, or wanting to trade Lamarcus. I used to think we had smart fans, what we have are fans that just want constant change.

As I've said before, I like Terry, and I think he's a good coach, but I've felt from the beginning that I'm not sure he's the guy that gets us to the next level. By next level, I'm talking WCF/Finals/Championship. I guess we'll see.

How many coaches have been thought to be the guy to get a team over the hump before they ever won a title?

Im not sure Terry is the guy to win us a title. Same thing with Batum, we'd be more likely to win if LeBron or Durant were our small forward.

Rick Carlisle lost a few jobs under that same sort of thinking.

NB3 will do a 180 on this at some point, anyhow. I just roll with it these days. Emotional opinions often are easy to reverse.

I might be wrong but isn't Dallas his second head coaching gig? I think his first was in Indy when they had all those knuckleheads. I'm not sure Carlisle is a good comparison because I've always thought very highly of him.

He started in Detroit

Stotts + the Proper players can win a title.
