W.....T.....F is wrong with the people in this country?
 
I could see why this would anger people. If the kid did it just to provoke hispanics or it was causing tension at school, I don't have a problem with what the school did . . . but I could see alot of parents raising hell over this.
 
Wonder if they wear American flag clothing any other days and I wonder if their parents are registered republicans or own guns?
 
If they regularly wear American flags on their clothing than the school made a mistake. If they just suddenly showed up yesterday with flags displayed all over their clothing they were doing it to get attention and a reaction.

Nothing wrong with showing a little love for flag and country. Let's hope it was nothing more than just that.
 
Why would it matter if they wore it on other days as well, isn't this America after all? The land of the free?

Wow is all I have to say, where this country has gone, and it's freedoms as well. :(

And there's nothing wrong with have a "Pro choice" demonstration on Mother's day.

What myself and others in here are asking is if the motivation behind this was to stir the pot or to express patriotism?

In environments where there are kids, their needs to be more control, IMO. Decisions have to be made on a daily basis and often the decisions have no real good answers and will piss off someone out there. But wearing a shirt like that on cinco de mayo . . . tough call in my mind.

I'm guessing if the kid wore the shirt today, he won't be sent home.

Should kids be allowed to wear their "colors" at school? Not being smirky, just raising issues along these lines.

And I'm saying it doesn't matter what the motivation was. They wore American Flags. That isn't offensive, regardless of what day it happens to be. It is another case of the vocal minority being coddled, babied and having their asses wiped for them.

What if the boy was allowed to remain and a big fight broke out on school grounds? Was it a good decision to allow him to stay wearing the shirt?

Forget politics, this is about the idea of an assistant principal being able to make a decision that is in the best interest of the children. I'm not a huge fan of private schools, but I do like the fact they get to make their own decsions without having to answer to the public. I like hard nose principals that lay down the law . . . but maybe I'm just conservative that way. : )

To me it is not an issue of a flag, it is an issue of children safety . . . forget politcs, let the administration make decision that are best for the overall student body.
 
How about not having an environment where a "big fight" could happen? That's up to the principal. WHy the eff would a "big fight" occur based on clothes someone's wearing? We don't think that the hispanic kids can control themselves? Or that the part-hispanic kids are going to throw the first punches? What? I wanna hear this.

Why not send the kids who they thought would incite violence?

Anyone see a parallel here between how this incident was handled and the whole "they won't want to kill us anymore if we just be nicer to them" approach to dealing with terrorists?

Tangentally speaking, the GOP really could have a great Hispanic base if they just realized it; Hispanics overwhelmingly (98% iirc) are very religious (Catholic, so there's that to get around) and socially conservative because of it. If the GOP were to be the ones who made their presence legal, they'd have a metric fuckton of new voters in a solid block.

That is why you think the assistant principal made the decision? That is where we differ. I think he was trying to avoid a fight on campus. And if I had a kid at school, I would want administration to error on the side of caution.

I see this different. It took a lot of guts for the AP to do this. He must of known he would take heat for it. But he stuck to his guns, protected the school environment and made an controversial decision.

I am so sick and tired of God Damned liberals, and their stance on political correctness. My kids school, here in Texas, has "uniforms" they have to wear to school. The uniforms are collared shirts and some type of slack, or dress casual shorts, and any shoes. The colors they can wear are dark blue, light blue, red or white shirts and dark blue, black, or khaki pants or shorts. At our last PTO meeting, a parent of some poor kid demanded that the kids not be ALLOWED to wear red white and blue together because it might be offensive to some people. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT I AM IN TEXAS OF ALL PLACES. Thankfully the lady was literally booed out of the room, but took this further, and it actually went to the school board who promptly shot it down. I say this because I think if I still lived in a "blue" state, we would be buying new clothes right now.


I don't give a flying holy hell what their motives were. This is America, and anyone should be free to wear what they want if it is within the policies of what they are doing.

Except it said at least two of the kids are part Mexican.
