Unfortunately it is not up to me to decide, I think Kingspeed brought a lot of logic to his arguments but there have certainly been forums that have allowed infighting to get out of control. My biggest issue is the current policy not the no insult policy. Allowing people to attack the post and not the poster is broken. If an idea you believe is constantly belittled and arrogantly dismissed it becomes difficult to differentiate personal insults and those directed at your post.

I am in favor of letting people say what they really feel and being able to move on, or just putting a kibosh on all insults.
