The team I’m hearing has the most interest in Ant is in the West. If what I’m hearing could happen, does happen, some will be shocked at the value.
Speculate away! What I’m hearing makes this hard to answer. There is a possibility of picks involved but I wouldn’t say they have to be this year because there isn’t anyone I’m hearing we would target. If it’s dead for sure I’ll post that it’s dead. The last version I heard was 3 players going out and 2 coming back (3 but 1 would be cut). I hope that helps.
Shocked how? I'm going to assume that we're positively surprised, unless the RealGM board is completely unlike this one.The team I’m hearing has the most interest in Ant is in the West. If what I’m hearing could happen, does happen, some will be shocked at the value.
Especially not with anything that would make us surprised at his value. You can get there with meh pieces, but PJ Washington as the centerpiece doesn't blow you away.I agree that makes the most sense, but it's pretty much impossible to construct a 3-going-out-2-coming-back trade with their salaries.

Unless we're getting the Lakers 29 pick, and an unprotected Mavs pick as well.
Pretty sure FVV's option would have to be picked up to be included in the deal. Those are the two teams that make the most sense to me. But I think Houston would be the surprising one.
Waive FVV because his last year is a club option.
Can't trade FVV and then decline his club option. They would have to fully guarantee FVV's contract prior to the trade. Those are the two teams that make the most sense to me. But I think Houston would be the surprising one.

Plus I imagine any interest in bringing Simons in would have to have Green going out.Well shoot..... worth a try.
Would we be "shocked" at the low value or high value we get back?It always feels a little weird to 'steal" info from one board to pass to another, but the poster from RealGM who had previously mentioned our Deni interest before landing him had these little tidbits the other day:
Someone asked: Is there a realistic timeline to know if this potential deal has passed? (ie - does it need to happen prior to the draft because '25 picks are involved?)

But doubt much happens on their front until KD is moved.
You can use the salaries, but if a player has an option or a non-guarantee, that needs to be worked out. They closed that loophole. Otherwise teams would use those team options almost like pure cap space, where a team could dump a salary, and then not pick up the option.I thought since the finals are still going on, we're still in the 2024-2025 season so technically his contract could be traded with the team option, no?
I thought the main impetus for the Orlando/Memphis trade happening so soon was because they could do the current season salaries.
Seems to be implied shocked at good value. With the way everyone expects he has no value.Would we be "shocked" at the low value or high value we get back?
Teams can trade players soon as their season is over. However they can't trade players who's contract expires (or has the option to be expiring via a team/player option). The players have to have guaranteed salary in the following season.I thought since the finals are still going on, we're still in the 2024-2025 season so technically his contract could be traded with the team option, no?

Actually - As I dig into the numbers a bit further, it looks to me like the primary factor on the 'urgency' of the trade was the #16 pick. By completing it when it was - it gives Memphis a better opportunity to scout players they are interested in (ie- Agents would not want to send their clients to Memphis for a workout if they don't have a pick in the 25 draft).Teams can trade players soon as their season is over. Until July 1, we are in a spot where teams can use either the '24-'25 salary or the '25-26 salary.
The CBA actually says that the lowest guaranteed amount is used for outgoing salary matching purposes. So for someone like Duncan Robinson (who's contract is ~50% guaranteed) counts for ~$10M outgoing for the Heats matching calculations... but counts as ~$20M for the other team's incoming calculations. (Heat can unilaterally increase the guaranteed amount up-to the $20M as needed to get a trade completed).
Regarding the Orlando/Memphis trade, the salaries are close enough where matching contracts should not be an issue on when the trade was executed. I think the issue was that with Suggs & Wagners salary increases - Orlando will be over the 1st tax apron (constraining trade deals)
I hope so.Seems to be implied shocked at good value. With the way everyone expects he has no value.
That might be an extra benefit, but I don't think that's the primary reason the deal was done when it was done. When it's a player traded for 5 picks both sides want to get the deal done and move on with the rest of their off-season. Until it's finalized there's a chance other party changes their plans.Actually - As I dig into the numbers a bit further, it looks to me like the primary factor on the 'urgency' of the trade was the #16 pick. Would love Allen, but Phoenix can't aggregate salaries right now because 1) being over the second apron and 2) can't aggregate a traded player (Brooks) for 60 daysNow that PHX has moved on from KD, and took on Brooks’ contract, how about this idea:
Blazers sends PHX Grant and our #11 pick
Suns send us Brooks, Grayson and #10
We start Sharpe and bring in Brooks as sixth man; Grayson backs up 2, 3, 4) Deni and Camara) and we use the 10th pick to draft the best swing 4/5 available.
If we can trade Ant, Grayson and Brooks gives us some scoring.
We can start the year with Ayton and make our decision at the deadline or end of the year. Most likely we trade him.
We keep Thybulle as he can be a good vet glue guy and provide a good defender off the bench.
Let Scoot and Sharpe get minutes but our bench has good depth at guard. Maybe we trade Williams and Murray for a young PF rebounding monster.
Is it too late to become part of a three-way trade in the KD deal? My understanding is that the KD trade cannot become official until after the draftWould love Allen, but Phoenix can't aggregate salaries right now because 1) being over the second apron and 2) can't aggregate a traded player (Brooks) for 60 days
I'm pretty sure that means it's open to amendment until the first day of the new league year. So it seems like we could become a third team in that trade if it made sense to all parties. Is it too late to become part of a three-way trade in the KD deal? Can be amended-> however Suns can't aggregate salaries. Doesn't work with them getting GrantI'm pretty sure that means it's open to amendment until the first day of the new league year. So it seems like we could become a third team in that trade if it made sense to all parties.
