Summer "BIG Swing" trade

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

lauri misses way too many games each season to justify his contract. has never played more than 68 games. in 8 seasons has only managed to play over 60 games in three of those years. not as bad as zions availability but still he is owed over $190 million over the next 4 years to only play in something less than 3/4's of your team's games historically? nope, pass for me sirs and ma'ms

I predict this will happen, although it will require some first rounders on our part. I'm hoping no more than 2.

Utah will try to do better, which may push the trade back, but ultimately I think we'll be the most enthusiastic Markkanen suitor.

Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, he's no Petteri Koponen...
Well Markannan is an all star!

I don't think Shaedon is going anywhere unless it's a really really good return.

I think we probably go into the season with what we have. We will sign some left over free agent to fill the last spot probably, but that's it.

No thanks. They will just give us a crappy player in return and a second maybe. Rather keep him.
Yeah they are going to save a first for a bigger move.

Now if they're willing to take on Grant's contract I'll gladly let them have Thybulle and some 2nds.

Feel free to "show interest" Lakers. Shoulda hung on to some assets if you actually wanted to get him.
They can trade either their 2031 or 2032 FRPs and their 2032 SRP.

I say we send out three future SRPs with Tisse, take back one of their expiring contracts (let's just say Kleber) and one of their 2031 FRP...

The Lakers won't trade away a FRP until it gets Luka to resign. That's they're last bullet in the summer - cutting LBJ and using all FRP picks to bring whatever sidekick into town Luka wants.

Same reason they're not eating Grants contract. They're trying to resign Luka more than win this upcoming season.

Thybulle isn't getting a FRP regardless of bundling a half dozen seconds.

Not to nitpick one small part of your post, but do you think Luka is the type of player who will want to get involved with influencing who he plays with? I don't see it.

Well if the sidekick Luka wants is the one the Lakers judge to be best than that's what he wants.

I'm not sure if that's what Luka will decide or if he'll want a lot of direct input or something in the middle.

I am confident nobody thinks the best Luka sidekick will be one of Timelord/Grant/Thybulle/etc.

I’m not worried about Sharpe getting traded. If stingy Joe wanted 2 1s for Grant I can only imagine how high the asking price on Sharpe is.

Kleber and a 2nd for Matisse.

Thybulle has no future with us. Get the assets you can for him and give his minutes to Rupert.

I don’t get why people are so eager to move on from Thybulle? He’s an all NBA defender, a good mentor and a great dude

depends. If he's willing to re-sign in Portland for 12-15M then maybe keep him. If he wants more or is wanting to exit, try and move him

I love having him as an option off the bench. I think he’ll be a valuable guy for us this year, especially paired with Jrue and TC when we need to clamp down.

We aren't close to contending. Assets are most important in that scenario. No reason to fall in love with a guy thats our 9th man.

I'm fine with moving him but some 2nd round pick that we'll just sell for cash does nothing for our future.

I'd think we should keep him unless he's part of a trade that nets us a 1st or a better player. He's not going to fetch that on his own but maybe could help get that value in a larger deal.

I’m looking at wing depth….

Framework

To Phoenix:
MIL 1RP (with added protection)

To Portland:
Ryan Dunn

The Suns are high on Dunn and it’d take something like this for them to bite — they’re also entering tax hell and must stay below the second apron after stretching Beal.

For Portland, you’re getting an elite defender who can be Camara-like.

And where you gonna play him?

Yeah without giving up guys who are going to get significant PT there's no point in acquiring anybody but prospects that will need a lot of work before they need a lot of PT.

I think if Dame looks close to old Dame, they might do a big swing trade finally. Won't be this summer though. Maybe next summer.
