I don’t see why testing out his handle would be any worse running open gyms against guys around the league than doing it against guys trying to get an NBA job or just got an NBA job.
True. Plus he might have the chance to work against Allstars in open leagues. Valid point.

I can’t see why Sharpe wouldn’t be there. He needs a lot of work in certain aspects
Because opponent scrubs trying to make the NBA want to make a name for themselves against proven players and can play very wreckless risking injury.

What if he spends between the end of the season and summer league working on his handle and defense and then tests it out for a game or two against competition? Seems like a decent option.
Level of competition at SL is probably lower than he could find at UCLA or with Dame and Beckner. Fairly certain Shaedon also worked out with guys like Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson in Phoenix with Dame and Ant last yr.

The coaching staff will work with him at summer league. He’s in no position to tell the team he’s going to work out on his own. Not there yet. Won’t happen. Tune in to Vegas summer league to catch his dunks, I promise you he will be there.

Oh Sharpe will be there for sure.
I would think so.

If my memory is correct, even Roy & Aldridge played in 2 summer leagues. Outside of Dame, seems like every Blazer rookie worthy of being on the roster in the following season, was on the summer league roster heading into their 2nd year.

Sharpe is no where near where Dame was after his first season. Same for Roy. I'd probably even give the edge to Aldridge, but that's closer.

It feels like we've been watching Summer League for a while now, but, with our season ending, we can talk about the real thing. Whom are you most interested in seeing show up to SL? Obviously the first two choices are
1. Victor Wembanyama, and
2. Shaedon Sharpe

Sadly, I don't expect to see either of them playing for Portland. Shaedon has probably done enough not to need to show. But what about the rest of our ragtag bunch? Some of the players we've rescued from the discount bin are actually a bit older than the average Summer Leaguer (would Kevin Knox really play in SL?), but the players I'm probably most interested in are:
1. Jabari Walker
2. Justin Minaya

I had a dream last night with us winning the lottery. The top 4 in order were:
Portland
Indiana
Charlotte
OKC

So, my answer is Wemby.

Sharpe imo needs to play summer league. He never played college and he's 19 years old so he needs as much game experience as possible. The league would be great for his confidence and ball handling improvement.
That league is really made for guys like him. Just my opinion....

Justin Minaya and Jeenathan "Nate" Williams most of all. Walker too.

I think Sharpe should play 1-2 game. It be cool to see him play against guys that he was gonna get drafted with

I agree, but I bet it's up to him, and precedent suggests he's pretty strong-willed when he decides not to play.

What sharpe needs work on won’t be found in summer league imho. He would be better off training with real nba guys, the more talent the better.

We needed another summer league thread exactly like mine, right?

Yes, but times have changed. Most teams don't even seem to take SL seriously.

Sadly I don’t think I can make it down to SL this year. I’d like to go so we’ll see, but I don’t think so.

I didn't know Josh Hart was a Summer League MVP.
