lots of missed wide open shots off bayless passes. should have had at least 10 ass

7 assists in SL is really good

He is a shoot first PG in the mold of Billups.

It was good to see how much Bayless has grown. I thought he did really well for the most part at looking and finding guys in shooting position - and in the regular season guys will actually hit shots. 7 assists in summer league (where they tend to miss a few) exceeded my expectations. Maybe work on TO's though.

And I thought both Cunningham and Pendergraph looked pretty good too. Don't care about the rest.

Guys, perspective. We want to be a contender, and Bayless is exciting folks because he had 7 assists - despite 6 turnovers?!

Bayless has definitely improved from last year, and it's apparent that he's trying. That's all we can ask.

I really like what I see from Pendegraph and Cunningham.

Jeff is athletic and long. I can see him being Joel's replacement at backup Center in a few years.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to rack up double digit assists when your starting backcourt mate shoots 0-8 from the field.

All things considered, I think Bayless had a pretty good game. I'm sure he'll do even better when he has teammates who can catch actually the ball and make a wide open shot.

I didn't watch the game, and maybe Bayless stats really doesn't give credit to his solid play . . . but this idea that if he had NBA players to play with he would get more assists and less TOs, I don't think would pan out like that.

If Bayless was playing with NBA players, that means he is playing against NBA players . . . so basically the whole speed of the game would pick up dramatically. I don't think Bayless can just pop into an NBA game and whip up 6+++ assists like he can in summer league. Also, I'm thinking the TOs go up against NBA players.

I know, I didn't watch the game . . . I just see a lot inflating assist stats that don't inflate from summer league to NBA games very often.

I don't know, but it's pretty well known. Everytime someone makes a herpes joke, it's usually followed by a comment about Jessica Alba.

Except he was talking about Jessica Biel. Or did he just mess up?

Most of them were solid assists though. Not just hand offs for jumpers.

I completely agree with that, especially in the first half when he looked like he was totally in control of the game and he was getting guys the ball in positions where they could hit wide open shots, the second half he started getting a little wild with the ball and some of those long half-court passes felt a little like he was showing off, but overall I thought he did a pretty decent job of mixing his passing and scoring. I guess we'll see what happens in the rest of the week, but my guess is that he's going to watch tape of the first half and the second half and the coaches are going to be able to show him the stark constrast -- hopefully he's able to adjust.

The nice thing was that it seemed like Jerryd could turn it on at will. He was like, "time to score," and then went on to score like 12 points in quick succession. Very similar to Brandon in that he can flip the switch at will.
