Summer League

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

 You're right, a majority of the roster is playing in Vegas.

PG: Lillard | Smith
SG: Matthews | Williams | Barton
SF: Batum | Claver | Babbitt
PF: Aldridge | Hickson
C: Leonard | Freeland

Ouch. Not a good thing when you consider the inverse:

We'll be playing our Summer League team for the NBA Regular season.

Lots of great info. Pretty much answered any question anyone has asked over the last several days

Funny seeing so many recent ex-NBA players on the sidelines. Swear I saw Bo Outlaw next to Mark Price this morning, and I just saw Van Exel.

Wow - the Wiz team has two key players - Beal and Vesely - and the Atlanta team of nobodies is up by over 20.

Summary for us working stiffs who missed it for a meeting?

Let's see

1. Said expects offer sheet from Minny on Sunday if deal can't be worked out
2. Open to everything, but it has to be in the best interest in basketball
3. Drafted Lillard and Leonard for a reason, we will love them
4. Offered Sloan the job on the spot. Will not do that for any other candidate
5. Kept Hickson's Bird rights. If he is the same player he was in his 19 games for Blazers he will be here long term
6. Lillard impressing everyone
7. Leonard tougher and more skilled than thought (Matthews)
8. Will interview 7-10 coaches in Vegas
9. Still searching for a Vet 1 and 5. Will probably carry 15 players
10. Seen offer sheet to show Minny is serious
11. First coaching interviews on Sunday
12. No offers from Minny that would replace Batum

Archive up on Blazers.com in about an hour to see the real interview

Matthews said he likes Lillard's pace, efficiency and demeanor. "It's almost like he's been here for a while," he said.

So... Minny has drawn up an offer sheet, shown it to Olshey, but Batum hasn't signed it, and won't before SUNDAY?

Is it an offer sheet that Batum COULD sign right now, or does Minny have to unload a shitload more salary first?

This Satoransky cat looks alright. Doubt he lasts past his first contract though, typical of Euro's.

I knew he'd go top-3.

Jenkins looks like he's a very good value pick (#23?)

Hasn't been formally submitted. Probably will Sunday, according to Olshey

Olshey compares Joel Freeland, whom we're waiting to interview, to a young Nick Collison.

BTW, I was told by Randy bodek that I will need 5 minutes of the first summer league game to decide if I like Leonard or not. Can't wait. Also says Lillard is a tier two PG in the NBA, which in his book is an all star. He says somewhere between Westbrook and Lawson

What is he insinuating with Leonard? He's been impressing in scrimmages.

Leonard is going to be a good player. Lot of crow eating on this board in a couple years.

What's your prediction for his most likely productivity? McGee? Hawes? Hibbert (I wish)?

I never saw him play in college, but I can only think of one center that was thought of as a project coming into the league that ended up being a good player (Bynum).

I'd wait to give him that compliment until we see how well his "franchise" PG and C do this year...

In MM's defense, he didn't say Olshey is a good GM. Olshey does talk a pretty good game... I'll give him that at this point.

Hope you're crossing your fingers that they don't pan out. You invested a lot of time, energy and temper tantrums in hating on those picks.

No comparisons really come to mind right now. I'm a big comparison guy, too. He has athleticism like McGee, but a much smarter player. Thats what seperates him from other Centers for me, he's has great leaping ability and can run the floor really good for a legit 7 footer. I'm not a big white center guys, either. Never have been. But a guy being white and a Center isn't the only premise I'm going to use to hate on a player.

I think we need to get a good big man coach to show him the ropes.
