A tale of two Michaels, one good (Fulmer) one bad (Pineda). lets hope that reverses today. Don't want to see this team get its ass kicked on Old Timers Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The birthday boy Hideki Matsui hits one into the second deck off David Cone.

Matsui, that man was a damn good unit, played well for the Yankees, was proud to be a Yankee. Wrote a letter of apology to him team mates during his time on the DL in '06. Came up huge in the '09 Series Game Six. In my view one of Casmans most infuriating moves was the failure to offer a contract extension for his good works.

Matsui was a credit to the org and was at his best in the WS, complete package. Wish they had a couple of Matsuis on this team.

Need today's game- stay on winning track with upcoming games vs beatable teams.
Worried about Pineda and Miggy, he's been too quiet in this series.

Worried about Pineda and Miggy, knucklehead Pineda better get his shit togethet and Miggy has been too quiet in this series....he's past due.

Yankees are on the verge of signing 1B Ike Davis as per Mark Feinsand.

Fulmer enter's this game on a 22 1/3 IP scoreless streak,

aye, the tale of two Michael's...may the order be reversed, ...

I heard he was a must in order for the Tigers to deal Cespedes to Mets. No Fulmer, no deal.
Jeez, Mets have young pitching up the whazoo.

I saw an old times game in the mid 70s & at least a half hour before the old times came out, Mantle, Ford, Berra, Howard etc. The stadium was standing room only. See all those empty seats today absolutely disgusted me.

I'd love to get those games, ie Old Timer's on the telecast here, but on the Left (wrong- or at least not the Right one-) Coast, but they're never televised out here on YES...they clip the fkng game even in b/t * Innings...
Love Old Timer's games, that's what Yankee Lore is all about, yet empty seats....wtf..??

* edited- was commercials, s/b Innings-

easy for the Old Timer Vets to say, "this team is going to get better", after all they had a bona fide GM, and Owner who ensured this team got better....

glad Maybin went down, no one want's to pitch to Miggy with a 0-0 score game, man on ....

damned, I actually thought Capn Smurf would drive in a run, break Fulmer's 25 scoreless streak...

but then its Gardner, don't know what I was dreaming, 14 RBI's, only 2 more than Tex and Headley....

make that 25 1/3

It would of been a real treat to have Miggy on this Team, Our Team not Detroit's...

Yanks up to their old tricks again, leadoff double stranded at 2b.
Definitely not old school basic baseball as the next batter (Refsnyder) 9th in the order fails to advance.
Line drive out to LF - Yanks would've been better served with grounder to right side.
Lol, maybe a case where having a pitcher in the lineup would be better, basically an automatic SAC bunt situation.

bases juiced with 1 out for Salt, now 2 for (easy out)- Aviles...?

The size of the lucky horse shoe up Pinadas butt is inversely proportionate to his baseball ability. That could have been real ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scoreless streak up to 26 1/3 for Fulmer.

Nice play by Didi, shift pays off - in fairness Tigers unlucky, one or two more feet in either direction is a two run single.
I guess we can find "luck" in alot of different plays, right down to pitch selection.
It always annoys me when an opposing pitcher is behind in the count and throws a fastball down the middle and the Yankee batter doesn't mash it.

men on the corner's for Miggy, with NO outs, not the position one want's to be in...

Luck? When was the last time you saw a batter hit a one bouncer over the head of the 3bman for a hit?
Tigers poised to tack on a couple of runs by benefit of leadoff walk and chop single.
Pineda is showing good action/stuff on his pitches- still has control problems, one bad one and bye bye game.

97-mph fastball, followed up with an 89 mph slider, to K Miggy; and I thought Pineda's fb days were behind him...

first time this year Pinhead's hit 97 mph, AND he's wearing his cap straight-wtf gives...worked out of a jam, 100 Pitches for Pinhead...

Pineda (my opinion) has better stuff and life on his pitches than Fulmer- the BIG difference is Fulmer has much better command and location and knows how to pitch.
Fulmer doesn't exactly have overwhelming stuff, certainly not bad but he DOES hit his spots and extends the strike zone just enough.
Good coaching? Instruction? Safe to say Mets' org better than Yankees when it comes to drafting and producing good young SP.

This is disgusting- two leadoff doubles, both die at 2b.
Yeesh, how I long for the good old days when the Yanks relied too much on the HR.
