Warner Bros. Announce Batman-Superman Movie

Zack Snyder is heading it. Announced this afternoon at Comic-Con. :ghoti:

Warner Bros. ended their panel with a big surprise, or two. After Tom Cruise and company had shuffled away, out came Zack Snyder to take the chairman’s lectern.

“Some shit is gonna happen up here,” he said. And then it did. Snyder started by telling us that it’s official that there’s going to be another Superman movie… and then bringing out Harry Lennix, the actor from Man of Steel, to tell us that Batman is in it.

Lennix read from The Dark Knight Returns and that sealed it. And there it was, a logo on screen mixing the S shield and Batman logo.

And Hall H lost their minds. People were on their feet and screaming – literally screaming – and the girl next to me was in floods of tears.

Do note that the passage Lennix read was the following one, suggesting that Batman and Superman might not be the best of friends in the new movie:

I want you to remember, Clark… in all the years to come, in your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you…

According to Warner Bros’. official press release, production on their Batman-Superman film will start next year. The story is by Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer, with Goyer soon moving on to write the script.

Of course, other writers may come on board in due course, but this is the status quo right now, according to Warner Bros. Why they didn’t tell us this in Hall H, I don’t know. Maybe to make the press feel more important than 6,500 fans?

Yeah, rumor had it Lois Lane was mulling over leaving the Daily Planet for Wayne Industries and triple the paycheck.

Awesome news! Very excited!!

No Nolan or Bale I'm assuming?

Nolan may be involved in production but I'm guessing Snyder will direct. Man of Steel was pretty good, IMO, and it's harder to do a Superman movie over Batman simply because of the gloom and brooding of Bruce Wayne's darkness. No Bale, either.

I wonder if it will be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, since that's what the end of TDKRises insinuated.

Kind of talking out of my ass here but it seems like these hybrid kind of movies never work as well as movies with a standalone hero (or villain like Alien/Predator).

I'd be more excited for just another Nolan Batman, for example, but since those are done this does sound kinda cool.

There are comics of Batman and Superman together, and I don't think Zack Snyder would be on board if they were going to make a terrible movie. I really hope it works.

Alien vs. Predator sucked because both 'species' have zero depth, so the plot was ruined from the beginning.

I thought The Avengers was an entertaining flick, but found Watchmen a bit meh.

Re: Warner Bros. Announce Batman-Superman Movie

I'm not a comic fan, but I'm a movie nut! I think this would be sweet. On a side note, I think they've been wanting to make this movie forever. I always seem to catch random things in movies and one that stood out to me was in the opening scene of I Am Legend there is a Batman/Superman movie billboard in Times Square.....

And I found this in the trivia section for I am Legend on IMDB.com
In one scene in the deserted street a billboard can be seen with a large Batman and Superman logo superimposed over each other, and the date "5-15-10". This is an in-joke at the expense of screenwriter Akiva Goldsman. Goldsman did script rewrites for a "Batman Versus Superman" project in 2002. This was just one of the countless attempts to revive the Superman franchise that culminated in the release of Superman Returns.

Re: Warner Bros. Announce Batman-Superman Movie

Have you guys seen the Superman/Batman animated movie from the late 90's. That was epic (for a cartoon, that is). My nephew had a VHS copy and he was watching it, and so I joined him and was blown away. I was expecting a silly story for kids, but it was actually handled seriously and was entertaining.

Is this codeword for you used to watch it in your mom's basement between D&D tourneys?

This was the Batman/Superman logo from the comics. I like this logo a lot better than the one in the OP.

:biglaugh:

Seriously this movie could be huge. It may be the first step for getting a Justice League movie made, which would be dream come true for a lot of comic book fans.

One of the biggest announcements at this year's San Diego Comic-Con was the reveal by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder that the sequel will bring together two of the greatest super heroes of all time - Batman and Superman!

The new Batman is yet to be cast, but Snyder is currently co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015. Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will return.

A video of the Comic-Con announcement has now made its way online and while studios usually don't like panel footage to hit the internet, we think this is probably okay since it's just a logo teaser. Check it out below!

*Warning: There's one curse word said right after the logo reveal*

D'oh.

I scanned the front page, didn't see a post about this so I got a little too excited and made another thread without checking more, my bad!

I'm not a huge Batman fan, but I think this is going to be awesome.
