Surround sound issues with Comcast?

Heh.

But if it's happening during the commercials, HCP (the blazer truck) isn't the source. It's Concast. And they suck.

Why do you think this one channel has problems and others not? Or do they all suck?

They all don't, so it's likely Concast Sports Net the channel, not Xfinity/Comcast the cable provider. But because one owns the other...

I'm getting really bad screeching during tonights game. Only on Comcast any other channel goes away. Sucks I have to watch either muted or not at all. Started giving me a headache.

I actually DM'd HCP about this tonight, it was really bad tonight was giving me a headache infact :(

I actually hope it gets worse to the point people get really pissed off and start switching over to another carrier.

What a wonderful first post! Thanks, Denny. You could have just posted this under your own account.

FWIW, I had no issues with screeching on the audio.

It's a Comcast Sports Net issue. And that fact that THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THE ISSUE YET Is a sign that they are monopoly and they can do whatever they want. There is absolutely no pressure they are going to lose any business off it. Where are we going to go to watch the Blazers? It's sad really. But they handle their standard business the same way.

I will say this, The Portland Trail Blazers better be looking at all of these issues when they negotiate their next television deal. If we have to deal with all these same issues again. It might be best just to kick them to the curb

If everyone is not affected, then it could be a wiring/cable problem with your installation. Since they went to full digital broadcasting a few years ago, the existing "outside plant" might not be suitable for digital signal at all frequencies.

Or maybe it's an issue for whole neighborhoods.

It could be that if they put the game on a different channel, it wouldn't have the sound issue.

Bombard them with emails and calls. Remember last year when blazer fans bombarded TNT facebook for always running games late into blazer games and forcing us to miss first quarter?

i suggest we all flood the email CSNNW@csnnw.com or call 503-736-5140

i had to unplug my rear speakers, couldnt handle it tonight

"Hello,

I've been watching the Blazer games regularly this season, and a few months ago, something changed in your feed that caused the sound quality to drop dramatically. Music and crowd sounds especially sound grainy and loud, as if they were 8-bit sounds or run through a ring modulator. It's happening during commercials too, so it's not the feed from the Blazers to you. It's not on other channels so it's not Comcast the provider.

Can you please send whatever intern who messed up your sound back in there and have him or her fix whatever they broke when they hid in the back from the boss? Seriously, this issue is forcing me to consider just forgetting the whole thing, unsubscribing from Comcast cable entirely, and just not pay for this horrible quality. It's an embarrassment, because NBA TV is getting this awful feed quality too. We look like clowns, guys. Have some damn pride and get this issue fixed.

Best,
[BlazerCaravan's Real Name]"

I've never seen this issue on NBA LP or NBA TV for Blazers home games.

Or any games for that matter.

Hate Comcast. I personally use Direct TV, but alas it forces me to stream the games online. So I don't always get the best HD Blazers. It's worth the trade off of not paying Comcast for me.

Put together a video of what I hear (it goes in and out) and messing with levels. Also provided a 2nd part of it eventually sounding just fine.

Seems to be the left and right surround, it's weird.

David Cohen, Comcast Corporation Executive Vice President is on C-SPAN right now, talking about the merger.

You'll be able to watch it (if you want to) on C-SPAN's site later.

Are ya a Shareholder with Comcast Denny?

Thank you to everyone who sent constructive emails to us about this issue. There are a lot of moving parts in a Blazer broadcast including the truck, the Moda Center studio, CSN Master Control and then local headends for any cable provider that carries the channel.

This issue was here, went away and now seems to be back. Please know we ARE working to fix this not just ignoring it like some have said/implied. Please keep us posted as the more data we have (zip codes/games it happens/cable provider/etc) helps our techs isolate the issue.

Do you the network 'notice' (without having to receive mass emailings) this when it happens or no?

How about we isolate the issue of Comcast blacking out league pass as an alternative and forcing blazer fans to buy shitty cable or not watch games?

Don't let the bitching get to you, I appreciate you taking the time to post here. Are you in the broadcast division, repair or public relations?

Proactively saying you're working on it, and fixing the issue in less than two months might have gone a long way to preventing the impression that CSNNW was ignoring or unaware of the issue. But thank you for at least publicly discussing it now, even if you're in firefighting mode. My sympathies to you, the actual person who has to come on the forum and represent such a slovenly provider. It's not your fault, and I understand that.

The video example I posted zip was 97306 (Salem, OR) and obviously comcast cable provider.

Would it make you feel better if they had Dwight Jaynes take you out to lunch?

oh this might get ugly!

They would have been better off just fixing the issue and not posting about it.

I did notice no matter how kind and courteous it seemed to be on the surface. The typical Comcast jargon was evident. Which made it feel less sincere.

Bottom line just fix the problem. Your customers who are loyal are worthy of it.

Yes, but it depends on two things: Is it at Ruth's Chris? Do I get to punch him in the dick afterwards? If the answer to both is yes, then I will gladly pay them an extra month's payment for the pleasure. If the answer to one is yes, then sure, but no extra money.

Separately, I have this image of Dwight being the Production Support guy at CSNNW...

The loyalty is forced and they know it. Why should they be kind when they're already dictating the relationship?

However...

I'm sure the guy/gal running the account has to follow a script or be reprimanded. So I give him/her the benefit of the doubt in that regard.
