The New Jersey Nets are the latest team to take advantage of the Memphis Grizzlies' housecleaning.

As expected, the Nets and Grizzlies finalized a deal Monday which sent forward Stromile Swift to New Jersey for center Jason Collins.

The trade comes three days after Memphis shipped franchise player Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie and first-round picks in 2008 and 2010.

The latest deal relocates former first-round picks that have largely disappointed in their NBA careers.

Swift, who is averaging 6.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in 35 games this season, did not play another game for the Grizzlies after serving a one-game team suspension for a verbal altercation with Memphis coach Marc Iavaroni during a 103-84 loss to the Dallas Mavericks last Monday.

The second overall selection in the 2000 draft, Swift will be joining the third team after spending his first 7 1/2 seasons with the Grizzlies and Houston Rockets. He is averaging 8.7 points and 4.8 rebounds over his 507-game NBA career.

Collins is averaging just 1.4 points and 2.1 rebounds this season. He is making $6.1 million this season and is scheduled to collect $6.2 million in 2008-09, which is the final year of his contract.

Selcted 18th overall in the 2001 draft, the 7-foot Collins has career averages of 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 510 career games with the Nets.

well you just described their situation, gasol is out and their team is losing... so warrick should be able to put up good numbers now.

Hakim Warrick isn't that good, even in Syracuse he was being overrated to be Carmelo part 2 , he's ok, just not great

Hakim Warrick came to Syracuse before Carmelo. Hak plays down low, at the 4, while Carmelo's a perimeter player, at the 3. Carmelo has an extremely good shooting touch, while Hak mainly scores down low, near the basket, on dunks, layups, and post moves.

Carmelo is 10 times the player Hak is, and everyone knows it, and everyone's always known it.

homey when Melo was drafted, ESPN put Hakim on another level did you forget when Melo left they called Hakim the next one at SF/PF in 03' he and G-Mac were completely overrated, Hakim isn't a scrub he's just not that good. draft.net compared him to Marcus Camby, Draft X got it right when they compared him to Stromile Swift. Bucher had some good things and some not so good things to say about him before the draft. Seriously Johnny Flynn and Donte Greene are better than him and they aren't recieving enough hype imo
