This is the first year for the Tournement.

LPGA professionals and amateur golfers will join together on Friday, May 21 to compete in the Chairman’s Challenge, a two-person team par-3 competition held during the 2010 Sybase® Match Play Championship at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J. The Chairman’s Challenge will pair 32 amateur guests with the 32 LPGA professionals who are eliminated during the first round of the Sybase Match Play Championship on Thursday, May 20.

Juli Inkster making waves at Sybase Match Play Championship

While the LPGA and its sponsors focus on building the future of the tour with young golfers Michelle Wie, Brittany Lincicome and Morgan Pressel, 49-year-old Juli Inkster is focused on the now.

Inkster, seeded 35th, ousted third-seeded seeded Suzann Pettersen of Norway in 21 holes Thursday, advancing to Friday's second round of the Sybase Match Play Championship at the Hamilton Farm Country Club in Gladstone, N.J. It was not the only upset of the day, as No. 62 Beatriz Recari knocked out the 16th-seeded Lincicome, 1-up. Lincicome had won the tournament the last time it was in Gladstone, in 2006. Also, No. 17 Se Ri Pak, who won a playoff in Mobile, Ala., on Sunday, lost to No. 54 Azahara Munoz, 3 and 2.

Francella knocked out of Sybase Match Play Championship

It was a little early in the round for a pained expression, but Meaghan Francella stepped back and grimaced after her birdie putt from seven feet stayed on the high side of the fifth hole at Hamilton Farm Golf Club.

Michelle Wie advances at Match Play Championship

Michelle Wie smacked herself on the rear end after three-putting for her lone bogey in the first round of the Sybase Match Play Championship.

"I was angry," said Wie, a 2-up winner over Stacy Prammanasudh on Thursday at Hamilton Farm. "I do that so that I get angry and forget about it and move on.

"I just said, 'It was a stupid error, a stupid mistake.' I get mad at myself for a little bit, so I don't take it to the next tee box and I'm completely over it."

STANFORD STOPS MATTHEW MARCH

Catriona Matthew's successful run at the LPGA Tour's Sybase Match Play Championship came to an end in New Jersey on Saturday with a quarter-final defeat to Angela Stanford.

Scotland's Matthew, the reigning Women's British Open champion, was beaten 5&3 at Hamilton Farm Golf Club by the American world number 10.

Top-ranked Shin eliminates Wie

Top-ranked Jiyai Shin knocked out Michelle Wie in the Sybase Match Play Championship quarterfinals Saturday, winning 2 and 1 on another hot, humid day at hilly Hamilton Farm.

"I didn't play as well as I wanted," Wie said. "I think I know exactly what I need to work on. I'm going to work hard the next two weeks and try to win."

Shin will play Sun Young Yoo — a 2-and-1 winner over fourth-seeded Yani Tseng — in the semifinals Sunday morning. In the other quarterfinals, 10th-seeded Angela Stanford beat Catriona Matthew 5 and 3, and No. 30 Amy Yang edged Haeji Kang 1-up.

"This match was so big," Shin said. "When I saw the pairing, I was a little bit worried because she's so long."

Sun Young Yoo won the Sybase Match Play Championship for her first LPGA Tour victory, beating Angela Stanford 3 and 1 on Sunday at Hamilton Farm.

Yoo, the 23-year-old South Korean player in her fifth LPGA Tour season, won the 13th and 14th holes with pars and took a 2-up lead with a 15-foot birdie putt — her first birdie of the match — on the par-3 16th.
