My family had a similar experience, although way before texting. My dad just bought a new car and took us all for a ride. Some dingbat whom I knew from school, we are talking major airhead, made a left turn on a red light and broadsided us. Then she kept right on going. My dad thought she was going to hit and run so took off after her. She thought better, but instead of signaling and pulling over, she slammed hard on the brakes in the middle of the street. The car behind her had to screech to a stop, two guys on a motorcycle behind that car were not so lucky. They rearended the second car, the bike capsized and both boys had broken legs. Then Miss Airhead gets out of her car and said well really everyone was at fault. The woman driving the second car suggested she just shut the blank up.
And for the next year (until I mercifully finished hs and got the blank out of that town) whenever I saw Miss Airhead, which was frequent, she refused to speak to me! I was not crushed.
