I'm just sitting here watching Talkin Ball. Im thinking how funny it would be to see someone make a mockumentary based on this show. A mockumentary with Furness, Pasero, Jaynes and one of their guests. Perhaps Mike Rice. Him coming in drunk off his ass to do the show. Someone portraying Jaynes and his shiny bald head. Pasero and his studdering ways.

Think it would be hilarious. Thoughts?

I like the concept of a bunch of people sitting around "talkin' ball". But I think 4-5 random posters from here could do a better job on that show than Furness' normal crew. It seems a bit forced, I think it's "old, white-guy heavy" most of the time, and it's not even like Pasero and the guys are doing decent analysis.

Times that they've brought in former NBA players, or younger writers, etc. have been pretty good, imo. I'd like to see a spin-off of KJR's Mitch in the Morning Daily Schnozz on Talkin' Ball, where a beat writer or columnist from the opposing team (whether the one we just played, or the one coming up) gives us some knowledge about how their team's playing and some of the deeper storylines of opposing teams. Or an outsider's view of Portland's team.

You should send in some of your ideas. I do agree with you that the show is forced to a degree.

I've watched it several times, trying to give it a fair chance. But Furness is so hapless and the rest of the 'guests' are flat out terrible. There's a reason Furness can't keep a job in radio- and we're seeing why.

Actually Furness has a regular weekday afternoon show on KJR in Seattle.

1 Get rid of Furness
2 Get rid of Pasero
3 Get Greg Robinson to host the show
4 Rotate Terrell Brandon, Mark Young, Steve Johnson, Brian Grant, and others on the show.

The concept is fine. But lets face it, most pro athletes are men of color. The poster who commented that there are too many old white men sitting around talking ball is right. I'm okay with Dwight Jaynes, and I could even accept Pasero. But Furness and the rest of them need to go. There are enough qualified interesting men of color in the Portland area to make that a really good show. A better effort should be made to include them.
