...that's not the case according to MLB...there were several clubs in on the bidding and the Cubs offered $150 Mil....the Yanx countered with $155 Mil and and opt out...not big deal IMO...I mean the Dodgers did pretty much the same thing with Kershaw.
I know the opt out clause may be a great selling point but I think the practice should be banned. These selfish money hungry bastards make enough money, why give them the licence to financially rape a team for more. Both A-Rod & CC have pretty much stopped earning there big contracts after they re-upped with there stupid clauses.

...but rick, no one is forcing the owners to pay these huge salaries and to offer NTCs.
