Sacramento's next two games are in Houston. Hopefully they won't be in tank mode and will win both of them.Ultimately, I see Indy retaining the 5th spot and us going to the wire with SAC. This 6th spot could potentially be decided with a coin flip if we both end up with the same record. If you guys recall, when we won the lottery in 2007, we had the 6th best odds that we won in a coin-flip with Minnesota.
Also, the difference in odds now between 6 & 7 are not insignificant.

They are in tank mode but their trying to tank past Houston these next two games while still playing Mitchell, Barnes, Holiday, Lyles, DiVincenzo... etc. Their tank does not have the power that ours does. They might get tankier but they're going to have to by Wednesday in order to beat us to that number 6 spot. I don't know if we can catch the Pacers but maybe just maybe they'll get one really unlikely win and also beat the Pistons to give us a coin flip chance.Sacramento's next two games are in Houston. Hopefully they won't be in tank mode and will win both of them.
houston is benching some of the best players they have left for the rest of the season.Sacramento's next two games are in Houston. Hopefully they won't be in tank mode and will win both of them.
My guess is they'll address it this summer. One idea: How Randomizing NBA Draft Lottery Odds Could Fix TankingI do think the NBA needs to do something about tanking. Get creative. Come in bottom 4 in league and you lose all TV revenue the following year. The injury list for these games is a joke. Just forfeit games.

I realize they changed it, it hasn’t made a difference. Tanking has never been worse. They need to punish tankers. Isn’t it like euro soccer where the bad teams are sent down to a lower league or something? Hey Detroit and Sac, you are playing in the G league next year thanks see you in 2024.they already did a lottery reform to flatten the odds a bit a few years ago. Before, the worst team got 25% of the odds, now the worst three all get 14%.
but there is still incentive to tank in drafts like these where the top 3-4 is at least one tier away from the other players on the list.
and inherently, i think you still need to keep this sorta thing where the worse teams get the best picks just for the overall balance of talent.
oh man, this year is nothing. we just never paid attention to it earlier because we were always concerned about the playoffs.I realize they changed it, it hasn’t made a difference. That would be completely ridiculous.I do think the NBA needs to do something about tanking. Get creative. Come in bottom 4 in league and you lose all TV revenue the following year. The injury list for these games is a joke. Just forfeit games.

Christian Wood, Eric Gordon and Dennis Schröder were declared out before the game, as they likely will be for the balance of the season.
Euro soccer also has very little parity and insane spending differences between the top teams and the teams that often get relegated.I realize they changed it, it hasn’t made a difference. Tanking has never been worse. They need to punish tankers. Isn’t it like euro soccer where the bad teams are sent down to a lower league or something? They need to punish tankers. .
You could... and you would be wrong. Did you forget the roster we played just last night? You could argue the Magic, Pistons, Rockets and Thunder didn’t tank a single game.
It’s goes against literally everything competition and sport is about. We are just used to it. It’s making a mockery of the game. Not to mention fans paying for tickets but no one cares, I get it. The lottery picks order should be a result of how bad teams truly are, not who tanks the best. It’s all fucked up and frankly stupid, but everyone is just so used to it by now it’s acceptable. It’s why I love college sports - tanking and losing is the absolute worst thing anyone could ever do - the worse you are, the worse your recruiting goes, attendance down, nothing good comes of it. In the NBA something very good comes from it.why?
You could argue that and be completely wrong. Unless you didn’t watch any gamesThat would be completely ridiculous.
*Best player demands trade*
*Get youth in return*
League: Yeah we know you had to blow it up because your best player demanded a trade and you got a bunch of picks in return, but we’re not going to give you any TV revenue.
You could argue the Magic, Pistons, Rockets and Thunder didn’t tank a single game.
We get back to that and become even better. But this tanking right now is necessaryI miss winning close to 45-50 games a season and making the playoffs and getting bumped in the first round every season. A lot of fun memories from those years.

As far as tanking goes, I don't have a problem with it when the rules not only allow it but promote it. I do think that we could kill it almost completely by having the first five picks determined by a lottery with all of the teams that miss the playoffs having an equal chance at each of those first five picks. The rest of the draft 6-30 or hopefully soon 32, will be in the order of worst record to best remaining after the lottery. That insures that after those picks first five picks the worst teams remaining still get the best value left which should help them to rebuild/ but would incentivize always trying to win unless a draft was so strong that the sixth best player was seen universally as a generational talent along with the other top six prospects. I think it would definitely kill most tanking and for sure do away with multi season tanking for good.
I mean... that generally works itself out.The lottery picks order should be a result of how bad teams truly are, not who tanks the best.
Meh, I think that there is an unevenness to the league but it gets overstated very often and is getting overstated right now by you. Management of teams and good ownership groups are the determining factors in what makes teams the most competitive. Look at the Knicks, look at the Spurs. The Lakers and Celtics advantages come far more from the institutions of success they have built than the markets they're playing in. Also I can't complain about super teams because I think players should be able to choose their best working environment possible that their performance has earned them. Almost no player can dictate where he goes in the middle of a contract but can dictate if he goes if he's good enough and any player should be able to sign anywhere they want no matter how many great players choose to sign there.well...personally I don't get worked up about the purity of sports, mainly because there is none. Fans can vote on the value of tanking with their dollars, and they often do. The other side of that is few things sell tickets like a team of young players with upsides
I do not believe tanking is hurting the NBA. What has hurt the NBA is a salary cap made of silly putty and the creation of superteams, almost always in large markets. It's an uneven playing floor and in a very real way, tanking can mitigate that
As far as I know most of them have legitimate injuries. (SGA - Giddey - Dort). You could... and you would be wrong. Did you forget the roster we played just last night?
How have the Magic and Pistons actively tanked? You could argue that and be completely wrong. Unless you didn’t watch any games
Why would anyone tank for the top 5, those picks would be won in a lottery with even odds for all 14 lottery teams?there would still be plenty of tanking to get into the top-5. In fact, I think that plan would increase tanking
I don't think tanking is a problem, at all, but if you want to reduce it by taking away incentive, just have a 1-14 lottery with even odds for every team for every draft slot. I guess that would be a subset of 13 lotteries
That was kind of my point.I mean... that generally works itself out.
I don't know about the Magic but the Pistons have sat Grant and no matter what anyone says in here he is the player on that team that gives them the best chance to win games, especially against opposing tanking teams. How have the Magic and Pistons actively tanked?
