Having players unable to play due to injury is not tanking. I think you are confused as to what tanking is so I will present a definition in regards to the NBA.

Steph Curry broke his hand on October 30th and most people expect him to miss the entire season. What do you call that?

And you're okay with passing up a potential difference maker at #6 or #7 and drafting at #14 (or higher).....as long as we make the playoffs?

You know, I wouldn't have a problem with this, except for one thing.....in the past when we've been a 40-ish win team and made it to the playoffs, it was FUN to watch. I know they'll be better next season; I'm not concerned with that. But this season isn't even fun.....it's just fucking miserable. So many expectations, so many hopes......gone. And it's not miserable so much because of how we're playing....it's miserable more because you look at who is playing and who brought and drafted them here, and then ask yourself if this is the best Olshey can do. And then you look at the coach and his ISO 2005 game plan and non-existent Time Outs as well, and then it begins to dawn on you, and you realize that those two things (Olshey and Stotts) aren't going to change.

It's why I've become so apathetic this season.

So.....play on. I guess. Don't come crying to me when we draft some nobody who will be out of the league in 3 years.

I call it a broken hand and an injured player unable to play for a significant period of time. Are you saying he broke his hand on purpose? Did Hood tear his achilles on purpose or did Collins injure his shoulder on purpose? I'm not following your logic.

Who are most people? The only info I see reported is that Curry is expected to be out till end of February.

I am ok with playing to the best of our ability. I am not okay with tanking (purposely trying to lose). I won;t be crying at all. Now will you stop crying or just continue to post your hyperbole?

Boy, I don’t buy that analogy at all. Kawhi knew his team could rest him and still make the playoffs. He also knew he was still recovering from an injury for at least part of those games that he rested. Choosing to miss some games in the regular season is a whale of a lot different than flicking in a season in the vague hope that you’ll get better through an unknown draft pick.

what makes his statement even more ironic is that Toronto went 17-5 in those 22 games which works out to a 77% winning percentage where as Toronto was 41-19 with him playing and a 68% winning percentage. It doesn't take a math wizard to figure out that they are horrible at tanking then. lol

The definition of a tank is clearly an object to hold mass in.

I'm saying a broken left hand on a right handed player would keep them out about 2 months. Yet Curry will be out the entire season. That is tanking.

First, do you know where his break is and when did you see the xrays or the surgery on his left hand? And where do you see that he has been declared out for the season? I saw reports from the Warriors he would be evaluated in 3 months which puts him likely into February.

I said might... also wasn't basing it on current record, but more on current trends (ie if a team is playing .500 ball they might stay on that curve).

Records very seldom extrapolate like that. We have traditionally been a better team after January. This season is a long ways from being over. I can't believe how quickly some of you have quit this team already.

Speaking for myself, I expected a slow start but whats been hard is the injuries, No timetable for Nurk, no time table for Zach and even with those I had maintained hope, but the Hood injury felt like a kick in the junk. I am still hoping something happens, that they can make noise in the playoffs, but it really doesn't seem like this is their year.

This isnt a traditional season. Look at this year, not previous.

The season is lost.

Fair enough. The word 'might' was used. The Blazers 'might' also get the #1 seed in the Playoff so I read it out of context. My bad.

In all hope that he can come back and be what he was in say a year from now, who in the world are they gonna get at 12M a year that's better than him though? Part of it is I just love Nurk, but the contract he signed was so team-friendly. I realize Center isn't what it used to be, but I'm not sure there's many guys outside of Rookie contracts that have more talent per dollar than Nurk.

The majority is often wrong. It's why some people make so much money in the markets by being contrarian. The masses are usually late to the party.

I think too many people are getting caught up on the word "tanking". I'm pretty sure nobody wants Dame to purposely miss shots, or for Dame and CJ to sit the rest of the season due to "stress injuries". However, I along with many others don't think this is a great year to push Dame and CJ (well, at least Dame) to the limits of how many minutes of hero ball we can squeeze out of them. I think a lot of us on the "tank" side are saying that maybe this is a good year to keep all key starters under 30 (0r 25) min/game and develop the younger players for a better shot next year.

The path we are on now could easily lead to Dame or CJ getting worn out and then end up with a severe injury that could impact this year and next year, with almost zero chance for the team to compete for a title. I think that is a poor way to respond to the facts that define this season.
 
CJ was asked about, would it be better to position the team for a high lottery pick this year. His response was exactly what I thought it would be. Told the reporter, crazy and left laughing.
