What are your thoughts on males tanning? I go from time to time and just got a month pass to go, I catch alot of flack for it from people though. I think it's totally heterosexual to want to look better for the ladies, and if you have to go to a tanning bed to get a little edge then why not? Keep in mind I live in Washington so sunbathing is out of the question. I'd rather be "gay" and go tanning than be a pale white dude that looks like he stays on the computer all day.

So does anyone else go? Anyone have views on people that do?

Well, being a dark-skinned black guy (not Wesley Snipes status, that's OD) I never had such a problem.

But I honestly never understood the point of tanning. Are you really light-skinned and it affects your ability to get girls?

4 "types" (I use that term loosely) of people tan.

Females
Homosexuals
Bisexuals
Metrosexuals

well i got the Marques Houston-like skin color so i've never had to use those beds. However, i got a boy who uses a bed once every two weeks and it looks unnatrual. To each his own, bu justdon't overdo it.

Shard, you are so gay.

I don't go to tanning booths, but I do tan when I'm at the beach. It's a good excuse to show off my abs to all the ladies passing by.

I dont do it, i dont mind that my skin color. It looks unnatural and can be dangerous(skin cancer).

Don't really care about people tanning, unless they go overboard. That "coloured in with an orange marker" look is nasty.

I dont go to a tanning salon, but I try and tan outside when possible, I'm looking a bit pale at the moment though, all the talk of skin cancer over here tries to keep me out of the sun as much as possible.

pale = unattractive

The people in this thread who are calling tanners gay are more than likely n00bs who are just jealous because they spend 99% of their time behind the computer screen and are thus very, very pasty.

I think you need to check your sarcasm detector.

I dont think tanners are gay at all, I know guys who go to tanning salons, I know a guy who uses fake tan even. I dont see how taking pride in your appearance is considered gay.

Moreso talking about the kid who made that post listing the four categories or w/e...

Tanning unnaturally = gay, but if you have a situation that restricts you from tanning natural, then it's perfectly acceptable.

Chicks who tan = gay. They look orange.

All this talk about "orange chicks" being nasty isn't true. I know some real beautiful women that have been "orange" at times and I could care less.

As for my own skin color, I'm (mostly) Hispanic and Arab so I've almost got a natural tan. I can get a bit white but nothing freaky or too pasty looking.

^holy crap...I'm 50% Arab, 50% latin...and we share the same birthday...what nationalities?

I'm 75% latin and 25% arab. I do have a completely arab name though (First name is Khalil). Heh.

I know it's creepy isn't it? I'll tell you the nationalities in a pm.

Superman.

Yeah, lol, some people call me that.

On the orange skin talk, that's just if you tan all the time over and over. My friend did that once and he looked like a baffoon. I just like to go to get a little darker, i'm not obsessed with being dark but I think I look better with tanned skin.. as most white people do. But yea there's a point where you stop tanning so you don't look fake.

A little orange isn't totally disgusting. It's when people start looking like oompa loompas.

For the record I used to tan on occasion. It's much easier to get an even tan in a bed then out in the sun. The orange thing only holds true if you're going to tan at a place that has crappy equipment or if you're using a cheap bronzer. Over doing it can give you a crap tacular look as well.

My experience with it, ya it works but it's just a pain to go through with. You're constantly going just to keep your tan at a certain level. I'd do it again if i knew i was going on vacation somewhere warm or if it was only for a short period of time. People who end up using the tanning beds too much have leather faces by the time they are 30.

All this 'orange' talk reminds me of this pharmacist who has an obvious ovartan, sometimes looking like a carrot.

The point of a tan is to make it look like you're skin is naturally like that, not that you made it like that.

I don't tan, mainly because I don't want to waste money on it. Winter in Sweden means I'll be wearing full-covering (exept the face) clothes, so it wouldn't mean much anyway. When summertime comes, I try to be out in the sun as much as possible to get a tan. I don't tan too easily though.

I read your first post assuming you weren't talking about me, because I put metrosexual on that list.

Post count man, post count.

Taking pride in appearance is wearing nice clothes and have hygiene and a good hair cut.

Not looking unnatural and fake.
