Teams "inquiring" about JJ Hickson

Yeah, I'd love to get a decent pick out of it. Either that, or honestly I would love to deal him for Reddick.

Smart move going to the agent first.

Agreed. JJ seems to really like it here. I always figured getting him to agree on a trade would be the limiting factor in any moves. A long term deal would certainly entice him, though.

I am pretty sure teams can't negotiate with him. I mean he is under contract with the Blazers. I'm surprised they can even reach out to his agent to be honest. Maybe they got permission?

Getting him to agree on a trade is the only factor in a move. Without it, we can't trade him

The article says the teams haven't contacted Olshey.

BTW, you guys see the recent news on Smoove?

Can we absorb his contract with our capspace now? Maybe offer him an extension too? We can give up JJ/Myers/more scrubs and allow ATL to at least get something for him instead of letting him walk this summer. I like him as a starter at PF this year, and moving to SF from next year (while forcing Wessy to the bench, and Nic to SG). His rebounding/shot blocking would allow us some flexibility in the kinds of Cs we pursue this summer.

Smoove has listed his teams he would like to be on, and surprisingly, we did not make the cut

Memphis
Houston
Dallas

What about something with Houston for toney Douglas and Royce white?

Yeah White isn't worth the headache ... the way he's handled his beef with Houston isn't just nuts, but makes me think he'll never be able to cope with being a professional ball player.

Insert Patterson, motiejunas or terrence Jones instead of royce white.if you.want

Dude has been bad this year and I dont think id do it, but I wonder if okc would offer Perkins, who has been bad this yr, and a first for hickson and meyers

I have been on the Royce White bandwagon all year. He is a huge, huge risk, but maybe Olshey can work with him. The players raved about wanting things and getting them from Olshey (Barber chair etc) Maybe Paul Allen can hire his shrink to travel with the team?

No way in hell do I want that bloated contract on this team. Especially at the cost of one of our lottery picks this year.

J.J. Hickson is on a one-year deal worth $4 million, but will be eligible for Bird rights this summer, which gives him some fairly uncommon power.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement allows for Hickson to have Bird rights after being with the same team or on the same contract for three or more years. Hickson was waived by the Sacramento Kings and scooped up by Portland last year. After the NBA Players’ Association won a grievance with the NBA regarding Bird rights and waived players, the Blazers were permitted to ink Hickson to a one-year deal using those rights, rights he still retains. But, with Hickson’s one-year deal he would lose them if traded, which then gives him the power to veto any trade.
It is a unique combination of circumstances designed to close salary cap loopholes, but also gives Hickson some control over where he’ll end the season.

I"m wondering which teams are showing interest? It would be nice to see the options.
