Teamsters ordered to stop picketing funeral homes

The rejection of a 9% raise is why these idiots are picketing.

Why are they picketing at a funeral home?

It's not just about the raises. It's about their pension fund, and likely other issues. Easy to cherry pick something that may be,in part, agreeable.

They were striking outside their place of work, not at funerals.

The injunction did not change that hey will continue to picket the funeral homes.

I'm not on either side of this. The workers are entitled to what they can negotiate. No more, no less.

No it doesn't. Nobody except Foxnews watching right wing union haters hate Unions.

I was in Safeway this morning..and stopped by the in-store Starbucks. While talking with the gal, I asked her if she was a Starbucks employee...she said, no, they are Safeway employees. I then asked her if they were union...she said heavens no! She added, nor, are most of the Safeway store employees. (Interestingly, I used to be a member of Local 1092 Retail Employees. ALL the main grocery stores were unionized). And an added exclamation, nor, do they WANT to be.

I left it at that.

A judge saw it differently, and saw them disrupting the clients of a business. If you think it's OK to act like assholes at a child's funeral, or any other matter pertaining to a funeral, that's your issue in terms of taste. I can call the scumbags picketing funerals scumbags, and lump them in with the Westboro scumbags as being scumbags.

Keep telling yourself that to make yourself feel better, as state after state after state becomes Right To Work.

Red states are the only states that will be right to work states. You need some therapy for your union hate.

I read the actual court order, did you?

Good idea to have the information if you're going around insulting those who know more than you as LIVs.

I'm not really picking up the point of that story in relation to quoted post. But I will say, she probably is a foxnews watching, fire breathing Republican.

Typical strawman trolling to say that he thinks its OK. Yawn

Michigan/Florida/Virginia/Indiana are 'red states'? I include Indiana because Obama won it in 2008, but lost it in 2012.

Hmm...

Link to the sections of the court order that you think pertain to whatever random argument you're trying to make at this point.

The best part is that Zags has done nothing at all in this thread to try to change that perception that Teamsters are a bunch of selfish douchebags who only care about themselves.

LOL

Hmm...

Uhhhh none of those states are blue states. Troll.

FoxNews!! :MARIS61:

LOL

Nobody would even know about these douchebags had FoxNews not taken a local story and printed it nationally.

Stay stupid, America.

The court order did not stop them from protesting outside the funeral homes.

So the judge did not agree, as you claim.

Now run along and make up stuff and attribute it to me.

That's not what you posted though, originally. The judge agreed they were disrupting the workplace, which is what I posted. They can stand in the street and hold their stupid signs all the want, but they can't disrupt the official on-site business. HERP DERP.

The best part of this thread are people trying to defend these actions. I've yet to see anybody on this board try to defend the Westboro freaks.

All I can think is that some people are union sheep, and won't call out idiots representing them as a professional organization.

Heckling the families of dead people for going into a place you're striking is indefensible, except if you're Zags and Denny.

Zags is at least still young, and may understand someday that there is more to life than work and a union.

I'm fairly certain that people feel SlyPokerDog is a huge douchebag.

As for your hate of unions, you wouldn't be enjoy your weekends off, vacation pay etc.

You and Maxie need some group counseling.

I understand strawman arguments on the Internet seem to be your thing. But you're just being a silly Billy.

Nah, I'm fine with private unions. People have the right to organize if they wish. Public unions are another matter. My position is that they served a vital role in our development from an agricultural to an industrial society, but they have now outlived their usefulness.

However, if you don't see that the actions of one union colors yours in many peoples' eyes, then you're living in denial.

I interact with people for my job everyday many personalities and types and peoplelove their UPS man whether I'm in a union or not.

Unions definitely still have a great role in society as corporate greed is rotting away at America.

I'd call this situation union greed, and the destruction of social norms when Teamsters harass funeral-goers because their raise isn't high enough. You make good money for driving a truck, and you've laughed plenty of times at others on this board who aren't in unions, and are struggling. It's stuff like that that gives unions a bad name, and I do agree that I find private unions OK, although you guys are acting more and more like public unions these days with the thuggery. Do you think you guys are the SEIU or something? :)

lol such a bullshit lie, but that seems to be your thing in these kind of threads. Paint the picture you want to paint whether made up or not.

The funny thing is I don't get paid the money just 'driving a truck'. So much more that goes to my job. Were the face of a company that is making record profits every year and blowing its competition out of the water.

I come across people all the time at business and look at my package car boxed out. I've had a couple older gentleman make a comment to me after looking at me sweating my ass off at a loading dock in the back of a hot ass package car throwing around freight and tell me the, "the UPS guy, hardest working guy in America".

Work on an oil rig, then get back to me.

You've mocked people here for complaining about things like insurance rates, saying things like you don't have to worry about them. You're young, but you seem to have a decent head on your shoulders. I hope someday you can stop your groupthink. You know I have a neighbor who drives for UPS. He makes great money, and is a really cool guy. Basically, he just does his job and isn't an asshole about it, and none of us ever talk about work, but rather sports and the kids.

Simply, because you guys belong to a union? Hmmm.....I'm not feeling that.

Belonging in a union has nothing to do with it.

A bricked out package car front to back almost on a daily basis. Sometimes I can't even open the package car door when I get to my first stop. Mind you the weight limit on a package is 150 lbs and I average about 15 or more over 70 packages a day. Just last week I had a lady at an apartment complex order a huge air conditioning unit that weighed 85lbs. She lived on the 3rd story of an apartment complex and the package needed a signature to be released. I haul this thing up therein 90 degree weather and she's not home and have to turnaround and haul it back down. Stuff like that on a regular basis.

Proven fact the FedEx guy had half the amount of stops we do.

Those UPS drivers are just overpaid union bums I tell ya!

You don't know me, I'm not an asshole about it except to right wing flakes that bash unions

You guys wouldn't have your weekends, vacations, overtime pay or any of that if it wasn't for Unions.

As a driver you're the face of a company that nets record profits every year, as long as that happens I'm going to continue to be an overpaid union slob and love every minute of it.

I'm a 100% commissioned sales representative. Now THAT's living! :blazerwookie:

These guys are owners plus others who are paid like owners. Their class had weekends, vacations, and comp time centuries before unions. It lost money by losing the institution of slavery.
