According to the Portland Trail Blazers, Blazers Broadcasting Studio Host Tony Luftman will not be back in 2009-2010. A member of the organization told Blazersedge this afternoon, "Tony's position was eliminated as part of a department restructuring."

Veteran broadcaster and current Blazers Broadcasting Producer Bob Akamian is rumored to be Luftman's on-air replacement during pre-game, halftime and post-game studio segments, however the team source would only say "I would expect Bob to be part of that equation but not entirely" as Luftman's roles "will be assumed by in-house folks, including personnel from broadcast departments and community ambassadors."

According to the source, Luftman's was the only position within the broadcasting department affected by this restructuring.

met him about a month ago at someone's bday party, he was a cool guy. that sucks, i actually liked the scthick.
 
Oh man was that a tired gag. I mean, sure I laughed the first few times. But night after night after night.....

They should really just show the live feed from the arena during half time. If I gotta stare at Blazer employees, I'd rather it be the dancers.

Luftman was cool, but I hated when he always said "and what have they won mike" and mike always says "a basketball game"

I had a friend who's wife cheated on him and then dumped him. When people would say he was dumped he would tell them it was a restructuring of her life, and he was just caught up in the numbers LOL

I thought it was excellent surrealism theater. They made me laugh every time.

Not so good for sports broadcasting, though.
 
They "restructured" the wrong guy. Michael Holton was even worse than Luftman. The two together were death. I couldn't stand to watch the halftime show and would either go do something else or flip channels.

the campiness of it all made it great. they were just reviewing the highlights of other games around the league.

There's a difference between campy and mindless repetition. After a while, even my 9-year old daughter grew tired of their schtick. In her words: "That joke's so funny the first time I heard it I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my dinosaur".

The sarcasm loses some bite coming from a kid, because she could mean she fell off a stuffed animal dinosaur toy.

It has nothing to do with race. I just don't find him very entertaining. I've met Michael Holton - he played in the same rec league I did a few years back. He's a nice guy (and could still drain the 3), just not very entertaining.

I guess I was the only one who liked "grease paint eyebrows" luftman and the euphemism man himself mr. holton. How many ways can that man say "He scored a basket". I loved Luftman and Holton.
 
I cannot in good conscience recommend HCP for the job. There are KIDS that watch that show!
