I cannot in good conscience recommend HCP for the job. There are KIDS that watch that show!
Dang it man get a "Thong" in your avatar already. Tlong with the Thong sounds cool to me and it's more visually appealing too!
:)

Bummer for Tony, he really is a good dude. Akamian is technically proficient, but he makes Ben Stein sound like Marv Albert. Holton actually does better alongside Bullet Bob, but I think Luftman would have done much, much better alongside Bob, too.

I have a video of me on the set with my Golf Channel guys last summer. They had me pretend i was just some golf fan they brought up to interview. I have skills! I brought it like AnchorMan! I will get it on here somehow and you guys can see for yourself that my future is obviously in FRONT of the camera! "Back to you Mike and Mike."

Maybe we can replace him with Channing Frye.
That would be an upgrade.
I know Frye probably wants to still play, but whenever he hangs up his sneakers he would be great on tv.

They "restructured" the wrong guy. Michael Holton was even worse than Luftman. The two together were death. I couldn't stand to watch the halftime show and would either go do something else or flip channels.

BNM

What? I LOVE coach Holton, he cracks me up with the random facts and deadpan delivery. He's hysterical... give him another chance BNM!

That is a great idea... seriously. Channing is a hoot and I would love to see him stay with the franchise in some capacity but I think he's going to play for a few more years. Maybe he'll come back.

I'm sorry for Luftman, but as much as I liked Michael Holton, I hope they can his ass too.

Antonio Harvey would be good for that role.

They should do a rotating "host" thing. One game it's HCP, the next, Eric M. Then we could have contests on here to see who hosts one week to the next, etc. Hehe, it'd be so cool to see Mixum or someone of that ilk win.

Hehe! Maris one week.

"you know, had they not traded Sergio, we would've won by 50 points tonight, and that'd only because they stopped playing Sergio after they were up by 80!"

MM:

"Fuck. Sorry, but this is bullshit. Why the hell haven't we canned McMillan?"
Holton " Um, MM? The Blazers are ahead by 15"
MM: "SO? They're not flashy! Look at Phoenix! They're runnin' and gunnin'!"
Holton: "Um...that's who we're playing"
MM: "Well, we should get D'antoni as the coach!"
Holton: "Yah, and how many times has his teams been to the finals?"
MM: "Fuck you. I'm gonna have some ribs. Enjoy the second half, you moron"

I am sorry to see him get fired, at a personal level, but I agree with those that said here that the halftime show was UNWATCHABLE.

Horrible.

Ed O.

Bob Akamian may be the only person in the world who can make me consider drinking poison after a 20-point blowout victory. Talk about someone who sucks the life out of every room he walks into.

Luftman wasn't great, but I'd take his character over Akamian every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

What about Ian Furness or that chick Laura Greene who hosts the Rip City Live show before the games?

Honestly is this city so talent-deprived that Bob Akamian gets every job from Division III lacrosse up to our only professional team? There have been many times I've channel-stumbled into some lower-division Oregon collegiate nonsense sport, and there's big ol' Bob calling the action.

Hate to kick the guy in the rear on his way out the door, but it seems many agree with me that he was simply too goofy and not very good.

How much of that is is fault? I wonder. These shows do have producers, and I should think that they’d have told him and Holton to knock off the silliness and let them know that it wasn’t working.

I noticed from Bens post that he had previously held a job in Memphis as a sideline reporter for the Grizzlies.

That kind of surprised me, because he seemed completely out of his element.

I’m sure whoever they replace him with will be a better fit. I’m not big on Bob Akamian either, but Michael Holton was much more calm, focused and insightful when Bob was sitting next to him.

From all accounts Tony is a standup guy. I hope wherever he lands it works out better for him than this gig did. He just never seemed comfortable.
