Terrence Williams?

Terrence Williams is a very good player who if his attitude becomes a non-factor, can be an instrumental piece to a championship team.

Sounds like a decent pickup if Travis and/or Martell get moved this off-season (or just for some emergency depth).

TWill has always intrigued me. He has a young Corey Maggette's body with game similar to Shaun Livingston - very good passer, great handles, a very fluid and natural athlete and can create his own shot. I think it's legit to say that he can play both the 2 and 3 offensively, and can probably hold his own guarding 1s, 2s and 3s in the association.

My thing w/ him is... He's not going to fall to us, so we'd have to be aggressive to go get him. How much does it really make sense to essentially "go get" our 6th wing player?

I like TWILL and Dejuan Summers a whole lot, but I think SUmmers will fall to us, very likely even to our 2nd round picks, and I think he'd be an absolute steal (on or near the level of Michael Redd, Monta Ellis, David Lee, etc.). If we end up using Travis, Martell or Batum in a deal I'd really like us to nab Summers in the 2nd (or obviously Williams if he somehow fell there...)

He is one of the players I most want in the draft, but, like glazeduck, I'm not sure how much I'd give up to get him if he doesn't fall to our pick.

Would rather pick up Sam Young w/ 24 or 33 whichever they feel he would go

T Will is a like a slightly better Sefolosha (good D, good rebounder, not a very good offensive game) except he is a much better playmaker.

He's much more explosive than Sefolosha...His main weakness is perimeter shooting and being out of control sometimes...Solid all around player which could be a really good role player in this league if his jump shot becomes consistent....Don't like him with us, we are log jammed at his spot!

TWill is going to be a difference maker for every ends up taking him. The only knock on him is his jumpshot, but that's a skill he can develop. He has a high ceiling which isn't something you can say about most of this year's draft class.

We're a little crowded at the wing, but every team needs its Mikael Pietrus/Dahntay Jones/young Ron Artest attack dog, and we don't have that at the moment. If he could be sort of a Ruben Patterson-with-a-brain, that would be nice.

I do like T Will though.

I think a T Will/Roy/Batum/LMA/Oden would be pretty fun to watch

Maybe this is just news to me, but did everyone know that Terrence is from the NW (Seattle to be exact)?

FYI.

Sam Young or Danny Green will both be productive NBA players. It's almost a Josh Howard situation IMO, and I can't figure out why neither of them are projected to go higher.

Crimson that is correct...He hails from the famous Rainier Beach High School to be exact!

Well, Terrence is willing...

-Q: Do you see yourself as a possible point-forward, since maybe the Warriors are looking at you for that?

-WILLIAMS: I think I fit great. If that’s what they need, I’ll play point-forward, center, Gatorade-protector, anything

If Williams has legit passing skills, I have to agree that a Williams/Roy/Batum/Aldridge/Oden lineup would be intriguing. Assuming Williams can defend point guards. If not, perhaps a Batum/Roy/Williams/Aldridge/Oden lineup.

Yeah, I think he's another Rainier Beach guy who chose to play outside of the Northwest. Ala Jamal Crawford, the Stewart twins, Doug Christie and CJ Giles.

Terrence Williams a PG? I don't think so.

He could do it. Not for the whole game, but he has the handles and passing to run point. As I said earlier in this thread, I see him similar to a bulkier Shaun Livingston. That certainly doesn't mean his natural position is PG but, at the offensive end at least, he could pair w/ Broy and do very well IMO.

Athletic specimen with great size and strength Uses his tremendous leaping ability and strength well to overpower opponents and attack the rim A high flyer with the strength to finish in traffic Showed excellent improvement in his sophomore year (8.4 ppg to 12.4 ppg) Led the team in scoring and assists (3.8 apg) as a sophomore Has great versatility. Showed the ability to play the point guard position displaying good ball handling and passing ability Strong one on one skills Unselfish.Adept at the drive and dish Really excels on the boards for a perimeter guy (7 rpg) Appears primed for another jump in productivity An excellent defender due to his great reflexes and athleticism. Can key the press as well as provide a strong man on defender

Maybe he could play both spots like Stucky.

I have a hard time imagining an athletic freak like Terrence, at 6'6", in the same backcourt as Roy.

Roy is 6'6" as well.

It would be an insanely big lineup. Against a team like New Orleans where we can show Chris Paul a different look with Batum on him and two big SGs playing the other wings.

Maybe use that for 10-15 minutes a game or something. Lots of options with his, Roy's and (hopefully) eventually Batum's versatility.

The rumor is Washington if looking to trade down from No. 5 to the middle of the first round to grab Williams:

"Washington Tips Their Hand: There have been rumors for weeks that the Washington Wizards would be trading out of the #5 selection and they may have found their deal. The Wizards will be working out Terrence Williams this week - a player that's a mid-first rounder at a best - likely signaling their preparations to move down several spots and pick up a cheaper player with a lower pick. Look for more details on this as it becomes available, but it does seem Washington's actions suggest the pick at #5 will go elsewhere"

Washington confuses me. I've read now that they're wanting a deal for a vet that saves them money. Why aren't they looking to rebuild? Even at full strength they're not contenders. So, what's the point of bringing back a Howard or Stackhouse?

Right now they're going to be I think about $6 to $9M over the luxury tax threshold. In reality they're facing a $12M to $18M bill after next season. This for a struggling franchise?

They need to tear this thing apart and get their spending in order. We could help more than anyone!

I havent seen enough of Williams to say one way or another on him but this whole is somewhat intriguing in that there really isnt very many "givens". This seems to be especially true with all the point guards in this draft. What I can help but think though is that if there are that many PG's that are crap shoots then at least one of them is probably going to turn out to be a good or great NBA PG. The question is obviously, which one? One team is going to feel very fortunate down the road that they were able to pluck said player from this "weak" draft.

Has this been posted yet? Any large muscular jock who is prepared to wear Spongebob socks and a Barbie backpack gets major bonus points in my book. I like this too (obvious Laker hatred aside):

One of Williams's favorite throwbacks was a Magic Johnson model, honoring the oversized Lakers point guard who was the inspiration for Williams's passing passion. "My uncles used to show me old tapes of Magic," Williams says, "and I'd see the passes he'd make and think, 'That looks tight.' "

I'm really surprised that no one has posted this Draft Express article...I saw it up before I went to bed last night.

It pretty much says that T-Will is not a scorer at all, but is a fantastic passer, playmaker and is up there in those regards to the best PG prospects available in the draft. Take a look at his "Pure Point Guard" score of 2.85. He is also by far the best rebounding guard available, and got the most steals from the SG class that they were looking at.

I'm all for a big lineup, although my concern would be his shooting percentage. But if he can work on the outside shot some, he looks like a great addition on paper. Will admit I didn't see him play much live and don't recall anything particular.

I have a feeling, with his stock seemingly on the rise, that he could be taken higher than previous mocks that had him in the mid-first round. Someone might fall in love with him or just not want to risk loosing him and might snatch him up early. Maybe not a reach, but his value is hitting the high note at the right time. And probably justifiably so.

I just read that today. I have to admit, my opinion of the kid is rising. Kid sounds like he has a bit of Rondo in him - a playmaker who does well at all the little things, but is a question mark as a scorer.
