Funny you mentioned the '60s......For all of the mean nasty talk directed at the elders, parents and "establishment" by the young "activists", college protesters and dissillusioned of that time......the elders, parents and "regular middle age working stiffs" were QUITE tolerant and understanding and more often (more or less) than not would just shake their heads, shrug their shoulders and chalk it up to typical teenager/young people gripes.

Only with the "new thing" of flag burning, and when the Vietnam Vets returning home were cursed and spit on did the older generation raise their voices and confront the hippies and protesters....otherwise the "older people" and parents of that time were MUCH MORE (from my view) tolerant of "different" behavior, dress, and speech than many of the college campuses today treat conservative ideas and speech.

One might say Peace is an Altruist concept.

Myself, Meyers Briggs test confirmed as an ENFJ type, My own MB conclusion of personality types, the same (ENFJ). Such are in fact Altruist, and I fit the bill, no doubting MB testing.....

I've built Nuclear Launch Platforms, from B2's to Guided Target Systems, Air to Ground Surveillance, Battle Management Systems, and am considered a War Hawk by most. Yet, I'm actually an Altruist at heart ..........and I do believe in Peace.....

the 60s were not responsible to a philosophy of peace-niks, those young people then, simply borrowed previous American Sentiments common to any and all wars, going way back to the Revolution.

Sure there will always be antagonist to Peace on this Earth, and has been since the beginning of time. What does War really solve peacefully? The Force distinguishing those deemed 'evil', or un-sportsman-like crazed dictators, eg N. Korean, Iran, and all Islamic Terror Organizations..........yes, force unfortunately is required, for our own safe keeping of our way of freedom and life in general. There will always be war. The Middle East is and has always been an Eternal War, one we should of stayed out of a helluva long time ago. But then, when antagonized, our Nation as the Lion must pounce on its prey. The very prey who took down our WTC. Sure we must be armed to the hilts, with the technologies no other nation has.

Can a War Hawk accept Peace, hell yes.

BTW- from those who I've known to spend time in Switzerland, all said, we lived on Cheeses, great breads, and a helluva lot of chocolate. Meat is not cheap, fine dining through the roof. If you got it and I'm sure you do, smoke 'em if you got 'em.......

Maybe, perhaps because those islamo-fascist countries/cultures stifle true freedom and aren't conducive to creating opportunity and welcoming free speech and are breeding grounds for hostile angry young men who are easily flipped living in where there is one (very) predominant religion being practiced with fervor?

Look....I'm mammal, homo sapiens, anglo-saxon, Tom. People forgot their place. Social constructs and conditionings of several thousand years will never beat out millions of years of evolution. Pick any of the 10 commandments and see that there are instances where anyone can break/redefine/nuance around these basic social compacts. Peace is not a natural concept. Its an aspiration. Its a passive approach to survival, where fitness to designed to be determined by action (not omission). Conflict exists on the planet among humans every day throughout this planet since recorded history. War is our natural state. Denial of this reality is not logical. Elimination of rivals assures propagation of ones gene pool. Rarely has the opposition been so recognizable. Like the Nazis, radical Islam is an enemy of clear intent. Not all Germans were Nazis, yet Germany had to be defeated because by omission of action they were complicit. Same with Muslims.

That won't be the last human conflict. It will continue until populations are greatly reduced. These are natural cycles when you look at history. Were overdue.
 
...^^^here we go again...so lemme get this straight, " Peace is not a natural concept"......therefore, War is a natural concept ?

...and of course conflicts have "existed on the planet among humans every day throughout this planet since recorded history"...no one is debating that fact but I'll try to ask the simple question again,..."WHY"?...has it been for any reason other than sheer greed or religious differences ?

...there's nothing "natural" about it.
 
imo, survival is the one basic instinct.
And for every action, there is a reaction.
Overpopulation could ultimately be the trigger which causes mass world wide "conflict".
Over consumption of natural resources and fresh water will lead to
populations battling for survival......and today we have ALOT of cultures with millions and millions of people with huge birth rates in "countries and they find they have to survive in hunger/poverty and look to expand/immigrate/flee/invade and prosper (WITH THE HELP OF THE HOST COUNTRY, lol)...or just maybe finally thinking about conquering "other lands". The math is not good for Europe and ultimately America.....not good.
 
Yeah they're like cockroaches that hide in the woodwork. The sooner we find these scumbags the better.

We are least half similar, EN's, tho' both FJ and TP do make for a good combo of plowing head-ways.

1- You wouldn't happen to be the source of the Bigfoot sightings now would you; the wooly haired Sasquatch? :devilwink:
 
I have colleagues in Europe asking me if owning firearms makes me feel safer? The answer I give....owning alone, no. You have to train regularly to develop the skills, confidence, muscle memory, etc. When you are at the range and the guy two booths down fires off a rifle or hand cannon, and you don't flinch....then your ready to protect yourself and your family. Then owning firearms at home or concealed carry brings an incredible sense of preparedness. You are in fact realizing your God given right as a human to self preservation. Regardless the intent of Govt to shield and care for you, at your moment of greatest need - only you have the ability to determine and perform those actions that protect you and your family.

Next question I get, when I visit CA next, can you take me shooting...lol! We're watching socialized liberalism fly right out the window.
