Ok...outside the coaches for: GS, Mil, Tor....teams in contention with Super stars,
who, would you say is doing the best coaching job Now, in the league?

Id say: Denver's Malone
Stotts
Nate

This is more of a list of coaches who I think are doing well and their team is out performing their talent.
Nurse (but thats probably taken out by the caveats above).
McMillan is doing a good job.

Im going to take a ton of heat for these two, but Clifford and Spoelstra I think are doing well too considering I think the talent they have is pretty bad.
Kenny Atkinson too.

I dont even think Stotts is doing a bad job right now, but his lack of situational awareness and lack of ability to adjust is still prevalent right now, and those things tend to hurt the team in the playoffs.

Malone is doing a great job working with the players he has. Of course he has bad nights like all coaches do. But Malone has made some good moves. Even while missing the playoffs for three years straight. One decision he made was to choose Jokic. That move alone was a great move. Then he tweaked his team to work around a player that is becoming one of if not the most dominant Big in the game. He is a players coach to no end. Much like Stotts.

Though id also like to see even more looks with all the options we have, it seems he has been opening it up a little bit more and a little bit more over the last month or so. Sticking with collins over meyers in the second half of toronto is just one example. The key to me will be when turner is back. Will laymans minutes see a dip? They better not.

Jokic is a definite all star but not yet Super Star status.

My bet is he will be. Very durable and he is getting better. He has the type of game and body that will last. I watched some of the passes and moves he is making and he is totally unstoppable at times.

What's funny is I feel like Malone was thought of as a bad coach around the league until this year.

Jokics biggest setback to becoming a superstar is location and personality. Both are frowned upon by the national media that creates superstars. Location is not a big media market and he isnt a very flammatory personality.

I am and always have been a fan of Stotts coaching...he's done a hell of a lot with the cards he's been dealt and now he's got a bench....things are good in my view...San Antonio has come down to earth and Pops is supposed to be the gold standard in the league......I'm proud of the organization for showing Stotts loyalty throughout his tenure

I don't 100% agree with you, but I absolutely respect your opinion! Not even gonna sit here and challenge you on specifics just gonna say I'm really glad you're enjoying it and I hope we have a successful campaign in the playoffs this year. I know you and a few others get frustrated at some of us for our opinions (which I understand by the way), and often in how we choose to represent them. I'm hoping for some Playoff wins!

I think Stotts can get good results with his teams because he has strengths like many other head coaches. Like his offensive coaching is rightfully held up for being partially responsible for helping Dallas win a championship. But give a head coach a roster of any strength and your going to see weaknesses show. Stotts has got a decent bench and a rotation that he's been comfortable with for a number of years now. We've shown him loyalty but if this teams fails to get past the first round... I have no problem with a head coach change. That would be the normal process with almost any other NBA team in our position making a season ending review. You don't make change for change's sake but you don't also let loyalty make you indecisive either. Sports teams take chances whenever they role the dice in switching coaches or upper management.

What is his playoff record?
He has won 2 of 5 series in the first round over the last 6 years
He has lost to the Warriors and the Spurs in the second round twice. Interesting because both of those teams went on to the finals. The Spurs won the championship and the Warriors lost to Cavs in 7 games
He has not made it to the third round or Finals yet.
Does that answer your question?

What is his playoff record?
Ask Jason Kidd, Dirk, Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler ….as offensive coordinator...he won a championship. Rick gave him a lot of credit for that playoff run which sort of shows what he's capable of with a talented core and serviceable bench...Stotts is well respected by the best coaches in the league...that says alot

Didnt memphis beat us in the second round after we beat houston?

I'm having a hard time putting it all together.
So Dame's rookie year they missed the playoffs. Then the next year they beat Houston (.9!) and Lost to the Spurs I think - 2014, Then they lost to Memphis (LMA pouted and quit, and wes got hurt) - 2015, Then the next year they beat the Clippers in the 1st round, and lost to GS (then overpaid for everyone- 2016, which was a common theme that year), then they lost to GS again - 2017, lost to the pelicans - 2018, and now we're here. Is that right?
