Thank you, Ed Davis.

Yeah we’ll see, but logic says you don’t just let a relatively affordable, important piece like that go unless you have something else lined up.

Just guessing here, but I think Portland has placed an emphasis on shooting this offseason. While I loved and appreciated what Davis brought, he was pretty limited.

Hope not. Will just find some inconsistent shooter(s) who are good one game and garbage the next. After Dame and CJ, Davis was honestly our third most consistent player. Could count on him to grab boards, play good defense and he got a lot of and 1s on the offensive end as well. While someone like Nurk has the obvious more potential, he was madly inconsistent and consistent players are things you need in order to do well.

My question is did they tell him they were not interested? or were they waiting to see if they could get a a FA first. It seems by Ed's text to Quick that he did not feel like waiting. Ed seems to feel a little disrespected. I think this might have taken Neil by surprise and Ed was making a point by taking the first offer. He can't sign it yet, so technically we could still make an offer.

I'm pretty sure that NO told Ed during the exit interviews that they weren't going to bring him back.

If not, there was plenty of time over the last 3 months for them to talk. There's no way this took Olshey by suprise

If that were true then Dame should not have been surprised. He would have already known he was not coming back. Ed would have told him.

So Olshey said No to Ed but yes to paying Meyers 10M/yr for 4 years... smh

Man how times have changed.
In the 2017 offseason most of you would've loved to see Davis off the team.
Fast forward one year and Davis is being touted as a fan favorite.

I think it was more "What is wrong with Ed? We know he's better than this."

Is that what was being said of Lillard after the 2017 season, and CJ after the 2018 season.
We know they're better than this.
The more you know.

That still makes no sense, Eds cap hold is more than twice what he signed for, so signing him early would've opened up more money...

I do remember quite a bit of hate. A lot of people downplayed his injury and thought he was being lazy. I was not involved with that shit show.
The people who wanted him back didn't say much. You'll hear the complainers over them.

I don’t get this front office. If he received a deal like the one Ariza got and we thought we couldn’t compete with that then fine. But $4.4million for a year, which is less than what he had made here, is absurdly low for a good player like him.

I can’t believe someone would think Meyers Leonard is worth $10million per year but Ed Davis doesn’t deserve half of that.

There goes the only player we had that could do anything in the paint. What the fuck.

Aminu's our other defender, but he plays outside more. Davis was our Mr. Inside. On offense, Davis made a lot of miracle 5-footers right through defender arms.

Our guard hot shots look good because of rebounders to vaccuum clean their errors. The guards may lose their swag and play smarter. Lillard can't take as many stupid hopeless shots.

Some of what @Strenuus said, some of what I said.
This was also took me less than 30s to find.
If I were to look harder I bet I could find more people saying Davis was lazy in 16-17. aka not a fan fav.

Guess it's not 100% false >>

I was indifferent on Ed Davis in 16/17. Seemed a big drop off from his prior efforts and suspected aging robbed him of his energy/tenacity, and I would have been fine seeing him part. Fast forward to 17/18, it's disclosed Ed was hurt in 16/17 and that father time hadn't caught up with him yet. He's back to the Ed Davis we knew previously and the Collins/Davis 2nd team duo was one of the highlights of last season. It's all about what you've done lately and Ed Davis was trending way up...at least through the eyes of a lot of Blazer fans.

Man! I take a nap, wake up, and see this BS. What a kick to the jewels. And for so little money. C'mon man! I get wanting Swanny to get more minutes, but Ed was the glue. What a downer. Best wishes to Phys. Ed. and his Family God Bless and Thank You.

I hope Neil wakes up tomorrow with Sly fucking that toupee on his head.

Farewell Ed. If we never meet again..... :wantmommy:

Sorry Ed you went to that shit show known as New York which has a higher state tax then Oregon (or at least it used too). At least you are going to a team that is trying to get better unlike the one you have left good luck and I hope you get more playing time.
You have a place in the hearts of quite a few Blazer fans and will always be welcomed in Portland.
