Thanksgiving Celebrates Our 'Original Sin,' 'Views Virtually Identical To Nazis,' Journalism Prof Preaches

No Thanks for Thanksgiving

Instead, we should atone for the genocide that was incited -- and condoned -- by the very men we idolize as our 'heroic' founding fathers.

One indication of moral progress in the United States would be the replacement of Thanksgiving Day and its self-indulgent family feasting with a National Day of Atonement accompanied by a self-reflective collective fasting...

:biglaugh:

he lost me at :
How does a country deal with the fact that some of its most revered historical figures had certain moral values and political views virtually identical to Nazis?

and that was after :
Simply put: Thanksgiving is the day when the dominant white culture (and, sadly, most of the rest of the non-white but non-indigenous population) celebrates the beginning of a genocide that was, in fact, blessed by the men we hold up as our heroic founding fathers.
So wait, is it a white-supremacist holiday, or a "non-white, but non-indigenous" holiday as well?

You'd understand what he meant if you already weren't so racist, Brian.

Jeez!

lol thanks i needed a laugh. I wish I could get paid to rant about things I have no real clue about.

I'm a part native dude and i celebrate it. Of course i'm also an atheist and i celebrate Christmas, so i'm not a good barometer i guess.

and all this time I thought you were French.

American "Indians" are no more indigenous than you or I are. No continent other than Africa has surviving indigenous populations. All Americans are immigrants and "Indians" (mostly transplanted Polynesians and Asians) were enslaving, raping and pillaging each other out long before the "white man" arrived.

That said, I've never known anyone who celebrates the holiday in relation to Pilgrims and such. It's mostly a celebration of family, friends, and the good fortune to have either.

The problem I've found is that it's difficult to eat turkey with cranberry sauce without staining the white pillowcase I wear on my head.

thanksgiving has become the fuel reserve for a shopping binge, or an excuse to get drunk as fuck

the whole pilgrim crap is basically dead except for kindergarten arts and crafts hour

you say that as if kindergarten arts and crafts hour isn't the entire basis of this great nation.

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to maxiep again.

My brother and I have a dear friend who is a "Native American". My brother sent him a text message wishing him a "Happy Thankstaking Day."

Maris is a big time liberal commie except when it comes to indians i've noticed, then he is a typical old white racist guy.

LOL.

Your original post is the most racist thing I've seen on here in quite awhile.

That's what racists do, they call out the other person for being racist. I'm just waiting for him to say some of his best friends are native

Translation: The greatest early presidents (e.g. Washington, Jackson, the faces on our currency) were promoted to being the top generals because they were the top Indian exterminators of their times.

Translation: Whites (and sadly Hispanics) celebrate the theft of a continent and the genocide of its natives.

I can somewhat see the logic in your first part...

For the second, I don't care how you slice it, you can't say something is a "white supremacist" holiday and then say it's celebrated by both whites and "most of the rest of the non-white and non-indigenous population" and still carry credibility. That means hispanics, blacks, Asians, Pacific Islanders, etc. Basically, the Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones who don't celebrate this "white supremacist" holiday.

Blacks and Hispanics celebrate Thanksgiving, atheists and Jews enjoy Christmas, and I post on a basketball board. You don't have to know anything about what gives you pleasure.

If you don't understand the principle, just read my basketball commentary.
