I don’t trust windhorst at all and I can’t see Cronin trading CJ for Hart and some picks. Maybe Powell.

Green as goose shit Cronin will either get cold feet and wait until the off-season where he’ll continue Neil’s policy of keeping this backcourt together and tinker around the margins

Or….

Clean house.

Hard telling with this shit ownership group overseeing things.

Fischer boy says Bostons talks about trading Marcus Smart more serious than ever before.

He also mentions Phoenix and Golden State as possible teams for Roco (or any contender really)

Personally, I’d trade Nance before RoCo. I’m sure there will be a market for him as well especially if he returns before the deadline. I also think he has more value because he’s under control next year. We also have someone to replace him internally. Dunno who rocos replacement would be, but we don’t have anyone like him in house.

RoCo is on the contenders market for a reason. He is not the first player we should think about in terms of trades. In my opinion Blazers should keep him.

yeah I don’t get it. Why would you not wanna sign him? We’re still on Dames timeline.

And risk losing him for nothing during off-season? I don't see how he wants to stay in a losing team and why not get the MLE on a better team. It's not that using bird rights we would go much higher than MLE.

The thing is he will be expensive to re-sign and we are hoping for an upgrade at his position and also Little is clearly the future at SF unless we get an upgrade there as well. CJ MUST go, but Roco's contract is very desirable and very movable especially to contenders like the Sixers for instance. It all depends on what we get back right? If we could get Simmons for example obviously we don't worry as much about losing Roco. Would it be the same if we got Jaylen Brown? He's more of a SF than a PF.

Also are we keeping Ant? That makes a big difference vs keeping Powell for example. If we are keeping Ant while Powell and CJ are going out, then we really need super solid defenders. If that's the case we might not want to get rid of Roco unless we are absolutely certain Little is our guy at SF and that we get a PF coming back our way who can defend. If we are going the Dame Ant backcourt - which I think is the way to go btw - then we absolutely must have top-shelf defenders 3-5. Roco is worth keeping if there is no trade, but there are a lot of trades that would make a lot of sense going forward.

So much really depends on how the Front Office values Ant. He's a star in the making IMO and yet he's only shown it for a month do you make the call on that and ship out CJ and Powell instead? I would just because I can see it so clearly with him. He's going to be offensively elite and if he gets even modest defense he's going to be incredible. I am not sure he has the clutch gene yet that remains to be seen. Since we've needed a star next to Dame I feel we can't trade Ant unless we are getting a star coming back, even then I'm nervous about trading him. I'd much rather add a star defensive-minded wing who also can hit the 3. Obviously Brown and Simmons are who I would go for with everything I had. I think you have to consider keeping Roco if you're gonna keep Ant. The only exception is if you get a PF who can defend at an elite level like Simmons (not sure who else that's remotely available who would fit that bill) and you're ready to rely on Little at SF.

What sucks and makes it more complicated is it's a contract year for Roco. There is no guarantee we can re-sign him this summer both in terms of money and in terms of if he even wants to play here anymore.

Can we get Jonas in a CJ deal? Jonas and Josh would be amazing. Then send Nurk packing.

Talent wise Hart is a ginormous downgrade from CJ.

There has to be incentive there that’s isn’t just fillers and cap relief.

If we stay with Dame, RoCo woul be useful. For me, he's kinda guy Wes was here.
I love Little, but he spend a lot of time off the court.
If we going young, then we go young. I guess we will find out in few days.

If CJ leaves and Powell I don't see happening until off season. As long Dame not playing I don't see either moving by deadline. Nurk I would give it 10 percent so more likely no. The only one I see moving is Roco or maybe some bench player.

I have a feeling I will be convinced Cronin is a poor GM by the end of next week. He's just an interim GM and probably terrified to do anything to disrupt the majesty of Oshley's backcourt. Portland needs a real GM will experience to get out of this mess not some guy with 3x5 cards.

Yeah I am back and forth on it. He was either playing that interview really cool and trying to get leverage to increase offers he already likes for CJ and Nurk oooor he really wants to run it back with the Dame/CJ/Nurk core and it's like you said, he's a poor GM. If nothing or only marginal moves are made then we're most likely fucked until we either get an actual GM or years from now we get new ownership that won't stand for this kind of repetitive bullshit.

CJ & Covington to ATL for John Collins (5 years on contract) & Gallo (2)

Norm Powell to Indiana for Myles Turner (2)

Nurk, Snell and Elleby to Charlotte for Oubre (2) and Bridges (1)

Dame / Smith jr
Ant / McLemore
Bridges / Oubre
Collin / Gallo / Brown
Turner / Nance / Zeller

Compare RoCo’s stats against all other starting PF’s and it paints a picture for me. Just another of Olshey’s very bad moves!

The stats say he’s a top 10 defender at his position and top 25 overall. Why do you think every good team wants him?

A starting SG needs to be able to dribble the ball.

Yep, Nas at SG only works if your SF is a lights-out shooter and your PF is Ben Simmons.
Nas is a starting SF in my mind who can guard certain SGs and PFs as well.

I haven't yet listened but CJ talks about the 19 mil Ben has lost on his pod today.

I did not realize that. Good to hear. For some reason, I thought he was still getting paid for missing games similar to Kawhi. No wonder Philly is taking their time.
