This is probably the most talk we've seen about CJ ever. Whether that's stemming from actual talks we've initiated, or if it's just other teams trying to fleece us because Cronin set a precedent on Friday is unclear.

So far, I've read: NO, NY, ATL, and DAL all being interested. Outside of Randle/Collins, I'm not enthusiastic of any other returns from these teams.

I don't like that at all. Substantial downgrade in talent with Noel, and his salary is a bit of an albatross next year.

I also wanna keep Nurk because I think the Nurk-Randle pairing could work, especially with a Dame-Ant backcourt.

A CJ for Randle + Gibson trade would be fine with me. Cuts another 4 mil from the books.

Noel fits more of Chauncey's playstyle. But also takes into account that Randle, even with how shitty he's been this season, probably has more value than CJ.

My guess though is they're trying to do like Fournier+Burks+Late First or some shit for CJ.

Almost certain this is the deal if it goes down. Add a late first and some seconds maybe. Or Quickly.

lol come on, that makes no sense. Stop peddling that bullshit. We get zero long term cap savings and take on worse players all for a pick that might not even convey this year?

I'm just saying this is the type of deal that is on the table. Not whether we should do it. Of course I would be pissed, but this is the reality of our situation especially given that absolute debacle of a deal last week.

then keep CJ. good Lord. fuckin Cronin, man. This idiot destroyed any leverage we had.

This sounds like a very Cronin deal lol. Can’t wait to see how some of the people on this board justify quickley as the main piece that comes back.

Just taking a quick gander at the CJ mentions on Twitter, one also said the Blazers still are trying to get Jerami Grant ... it seems like that would be part of or a result of CJ going to the Knicks.

It does sound like there are teams that want CJ. There might also be some blood in the water from other GMs thinking they can get him for pennies on the dollar after seeing the deal with the Clippers.

It would have to be Randle and maybe even Noel as well since that trade doesn’t work straight up.

Think I'd rather do Randle and Taj Gibson; I don't know that I want Noel contract.

I'm not sure how good of a frontcourt player Randle would be with Dame&Ant, we might want a superior defender. But its certainly better than Dame&Ant with CJ.

I don’t think Gibson can be traded since he signed in January. As for Randles defense, I think he’s pretty good when locked in. He graded out very well last year for example. We’d be trusting that Billups/dame can get the best outta him. He’s not my first choice, but I’d be ok with it.

I just can't see why NY would move Randle for CJ. It doesn't make a ton of sense. I would think they'd want to pair CJ with Randle. Otherwise, it's more of a lateral move for them. I'd think they'd prefer adding multiple picks to guys other than Randle, versus including him.

they recently drafted a guy in the lottery at Randles position who is playing well and is probably ready for a larger role. Plus Randle doesn’t look like he wants to be there, despite whatever he tells the media.

I really don't want anything from NY. Blazers fans don't know yet how much they'll hate Randle. He's not what he once was.

Gibson signed in August.

barrett has been their best player this year, and they have Toppin/Reddish also looking for minutes, and a Randle move would open that up.

They also need a lead guard who can score.

They have like 60 some million dollars allocated towards guards currently. I just can't see the logic in swapping out a 4 for another SG. They'd certainly want to move off of Fournier if they landed CJ.

Perhaps Olshey is secretly running things behind the scenes.

Opposing teams expect the Knicks to have interest in trading for Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum, SNY sources confirm.

Teams expect the Blazers to listen to offers on McCollum in the wake of their decision to move Norman Powell to the Los Angeles Clippers for future flexibility.

McCollum, 30, has established himself as one of the top guards in the NBA while playing in Portland with Damian Lillard.

McCollum is in the first year of a three-year, $100 million contract.

New York has several players under contract who can be combined in an offer to make the trade work. It's fair to assume that Portland would covet at least one of the Knicks' young promising prospects or draft compensation in two-team trade.

The Knicks are also looking into ways open up a spot in the rotation for Cam Reddish this week.

Reddish has appeared in three of seven games since being cleared to play by the team, logging just 20 minutes. Most of those minutes have been garbage time.

Marc Stein first reported the Knicks' interest in McCollum on his Substack.

The Knicks had internal discussions on McCollum ahead of the 2021 trade deadline.

Other notes:
The Blazers are also among the teams who have continued interest in Detroit's Jerami Grant, SNY sources confirm. The Pistons, as SNY reported Sunday, are among the teams with a degree of interest in Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson.

The Athletic first reported Portland as a remaining suitor for Grant.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 10 at 3 p.m.
