so who we trading the new Orleans one for lol. Seems Bledsoe matches with a couple PFs that could be available..
This trade also makes a TPE big enough for any of those same targets.

Trying to understand the Pacers here.

So they've got a lineup of:

Haliburton
Brogdan
?
?
Turner

with an 20 mil Hield off the bench?
Duarte too. Gotta think they'll make other moves. Plus they should add a high draft pick like us.

And what do we offer with that TPE? That's the problem. Our non-financial assets (i.e., draft picks) are non-existent.

Fischer said Pistons are seeking two firsts for Jerami and the pick we just got from NO might be re-routed to DET. He said 7 people (his sources around the league) have texted him about this, so there's more than just ancillary noise.

Also says Dame in the past has provided Olshey with names of guys he wants (like Gordon and Brown). Thinks Dame is also behind the Grant interest.

The "Raptors" mold rebuild is being referenced. Out of the playoffs for a year, get a lottery pick and more flexibility with guys that fit better around Dame.

esp not at the 112 mil contract he is seeking this summer. I think Powell is better than him.
its not who is the better player, its who is the better fit on this team and its surely grant

we have simons and little, so we dont need powell and even if we didnt have little, powell experiment at small forward has failed, so he wouldve been gone anyway

we can discuss if grant is worth the money he will demand or if hes good enough to be 2nd or 3rd best player on the team, but hes two-way player and is power forward, which makes him a good fit on this team

Let's be very clear here, the Powell experiment mostly failed because Chauncy did not continue with the drop-coverage scheme - the Dame, CJ, Norm, RoCo and Nurk combination worked fine most of the time with very little time to gel last year. But, with all the new scheme and RoCo's decline - it certainly does not make sense anymore. Especially when it was clear that with Ant's emergence there was only place for so many small guards. At least the new GM did not stay with 3 and went a step further by having just 2 small guards as the designated back-court.

Right now our starting lineup is 4 small guards and Nurk

false. He’s VERY good as a role player. 5 WAR player in OKC

"role player"....that's not the type of player that a GM should be locked into like Cronin has reportedly been locked into Grant. The Blazers just traded 4 role players in the last 4 days, and one of them, CJ, is arguably a tier above a role player.

Grant has a 13.6 career PER when the NBA average is 15.0. His career TS% is only average and much worse this season. He has 7.5% rebounding percentage this season and his assist rate, both long term and short term is well below average for a high usage player. He has a career negative BPM. I don't think he'll ever sniff an all-star game, but Cronin has been chasing him, reportedly, like he's already an all-star

More from Fischer:

A lot of executives thought Portland could have done that deal with LA without including Covington. People around the league felt they could have kept RoCo to move later on.

Also execs felt that we left draft capital on the board with the CJ trade. NO had a bunch more picks that could have been added to the deal, especially with Nance added, but Cronin did not insist on their addition.

for fucks sake....

Legit my thoughts. Cronin could FOR SURE have pushed for more. Amateur.

This was his response to my question about what people around the league feel about Cronin's negotiations. He also went on to comment about maximizing deals around the margins all contribute towards building a title contender and we definitely gave up assets/talent for less than what we could have.

I think it's obvious that Cronin completely fucked-up the Powell/RoCo trade. It was a stupid return and rushed

today's trade is much better, but again, I think he could have received much better draft pick assets.

now, if he turns around and sends that Pels first round pick to detroit for Grant he's a fucking idiot
