Agreed, he's a decent player, but I want guys we have control over going forward if we're making moves.
I suppose it's similar to what we did with Hood and Powell where we got their Bird rights, but I don't find it of much value for a guy who's not that good.

DFS doesn't make much sense to me. He's a FA this summer and due for an extension and is already 28. He's a low level starter. Unless we get him for our minimum guys, I have little interest.

Low level starter? His VORP would lead our team. His DBPM would be second. Win shares/48 third. His 3PT % is better than anyone outside of our four guards.

what kinda contract would you give him in the summer? Advanced stats are a bit surprising

Send Porzingis and change to Toronto so we can get Siakam. He can be the center they've been looking for.
I like this idea. It seems Porzingis would be a better fit for Toronto than for us. Not sure if Toronto would need anything added to make that trade. Porzingis is having a strong year, has best PER of these three, not really close and his advanced stats are also better than Siakam, even though his three point shooting is substantially below his norm. So, is CJ enough for Dallas?

They can have one of CJ or Norm plus Roco and they can give Porzingis and change and we can take Siakam. Seems pretty reasonable. Maybe Dallas can throw in a pick or a young piece to Toronto?

This IMO is the focus any of us have talked about for a Chauncy coached team - good sized wings that can DEFEND, we can see what a disruptive force Nas has been, Roco's likely gone, we need a replacement wing, I like the Finney-smith idea

unless Portland overpays, does anybody think that RoCo would re-sign with Portland? I'd think he'll walk if he's UFA this summer

Portland needs to get something for him prior to the deadline

like a third of the league is supposedly after him, and it makes sense why. He's got a really reasonable contract that should be easy to match salary, and all his defensive metrics look good. Any playoff team wanting an ancillary piece to bolster their defense should be after him. Hell, he's the kinda guy I would have wanted US to target in years past. It's no surprise why he's been on four teams in four years and been exchanged for so many draft picks just in this contract alone. It's like Jeff Green at this point.

There is still a debate about whether we are sellers, but his upcoming FA makes it a nobrainer to me to move him. We gotta get a bidding war going and at least extract a pick out of that.

Wonder what Minnesota or Cleveland would even offer for Roco. From Cleveland I would want Okoro.

Powell and Roco for Okoro, Rubio, and their first? Seems we could get more but I’d be ok with that.

If Portland tanks don't they get the pick from the Bulls anyways??

Not thrilled with that return. Powell and RoCo should both net a least a 1st+. Rubio is just an expiring contract. It’s not a great FA class, and if you’re trading for Rubio because you want his bird rights, I’m not a fan of Rubio being our third guard with Dame and Simons. Okoro is a little smaller than Little and not as strong. I’d rather trade for young guys 6’7 and above.

Well we still owe it in the future if we dont this yr. I ideally want more than that pick but if its the best we can do for Roco, id consider it

I just can't see how Portland gets an all-star caliber player in return for these assets by the deadline. Seems most likely that they will get pieces that, hopefully, fit better around Dame, but aren't exactly superstars. I think the approach is to collect as many picks from the existing assets as possible and make a deal for some real talent in the offseason. I like Anfernee but if he nets a pick and good filler I would deal him. I just don't see Dame and Ant being any more successful than Dame and CJ, not enough to contend anyways. Aren't sick and tired of no defense in the backcourt? Picks, picks and more picks.

I think it's more likely that this ownership group will dump salary to try to get under the luxury tax. I don't think we're going to get anything useful.

Ant is a triple threat. Look at his assists in January look at the Quality of those assists. Sure we need defense, but I believe he has the tools to defend namely lateral quickness and just overall amazing speed and decent wingspan. He’s not yet the scorer CJ is (but he's not far either!!!!) but he's already light years better as a passer. I always feel nervous when CJ has the ball. Ive noticed I intuitively trust Ant when he had the ball. They are not the same player and the results will be different. Obviously we MUST improve defensively especially at the 4.

I think Okoro would be a perfect backcourt fit for Simons. He'd bring size, toughness, and defense, and his shooting is improving. I've gotten roasted for it multiple times, but I think a trade of Roco/McCollum for Love/Okoro/Ed Davis would be a good trade for both teams (and keep both under the tax). I'd want to follow it up with a Powell trade, but we wouldn't have to this year.

Lillard/Simons
Powell/Simons/Okoro
Little/Okoro
Love/Nance/Little
Nurkic/Nance/Davis

that pass he made to Roco at the end where Cov blew a point blank layup was an absolute DIME. didn't think he could do such things.

Double entendre: :bgrin:

  • Didn't think Ant could make such a great pass.
  • Didn't think Cov could miss a bunny so badly.

Unless maybe it’s Marcus Smart?
Is everyone that’s suggesting Marcus Smart not worried about his shooting? And it’s not like he not trying either, he shoots 4.7 3’s a game at a 30% clip. He hasn’t touched 40% fg in the last three years either. He’s a good defender but he’s 6’3 so you couldn’t start him. And it doesn’t make sense to pay between $16-21m a year over the next four years for essentially a one-dimensional bench player.

Hard pass for me, personally.
