Those guys need the ball in their hands. You're not getting much out of Ben if he doesn't have the ball in his hands. I think Grant can get you a lot of what Ben would do for cheaper with additional assets.
Both of those guys have been most successful off the ball. Kyrie being set up by LeBron and KD being set up by Steph. Also Kyrie can run the pick and roll with Simmons and it will be dynamic. This offense just went from three guys playing iso ball one at a time to a more cohesive unit. Again though they just went from a no defense team to having the runner up DPOY from last season.

Nets can probably package those 2 first’s and Nicolas Claxton to Detroit for Jerami Grant.
No, they cant. They have no contracts to match the 20 million that Grant makes. (Joe Harris is not tradeable on his deal, and the Pistons have no need for him).

Trading for Richardson would have put another 12 million on the books next year. I dont know what the ultimate plan will work out to be, but that's why we wouldn't have made that swap with powell

But that doesn't change the fact that they prefer to play with the ball in their hands. That's why Kyrie left. I think it CAN work but it all comes down to if they even want to play with Ben. Durant can't be happy right now.

This imaginary capspace better amount to something more than Anfernee Simons, Jusuf Nurkic and TJ Warren. Or some shit.

Portland can't get better by signing free agents. Not getting a FRP for Norm and Roco AND the possibility that the FRP from NO turns into the FRP from MIL is just a terrible haul for those guys. Depressed.

Dame
Ant
Nas
Mid-tier FA
Nurk

Unless we actually use that capspace on a player of significance, it's all just mythical. And we could get close to a 12 mil space with just our MLE

I get that, but even if by some miracle he decides to sign with us, we are tying 100M+ again to 3 guards. Sound familiar? I'm sick and tired of guard city.

I'd trade Simons at that point. I actually really like LaVine after watching him in the Olympics. He's a gamer.

Try to get LaVine and then Sign and trade Ant?

They aren't trading Ant, for better or worse.

Maybe Brooklyn can structure the Simmons Harden trade as a 3way to get Grant?

We’re talking about receiving a 1st rd pick, not getting Richardson.

Kyrie won't be playing with the ball in his hands at home games.

Plus he’s from the Pac NW.

But why does Chicago do it?

Why does Chicago have a choice? LaVine is a UFA.

I'm not saying he would come here. The Bulls are a much better team than us. Just saying he's the best free agent on the market this summer.

All one can do is hope to hell that the 2022 Pels FRP pick is Portland's. The trade that and whoever Portland picks immediately for something bigger.

Then we better trade Dame because Dame/Ant is only a fraction better fit than Dame/CJ. They are still going to be a gaping hole in our defense and we know that doesn't work. But who the fuck knows... maybe Ant will become a great defender and play just as good off the ball as he does as the lead guard... not likely but anything can happen.
