For those who didn't know, Bertans is still owed about 3 yrs, 50 mil on his deal while producing 5 pts and 2 rebs per game.

WTF is Dallas doing?

Unless they have another deal lined up for Brunson, this is really stupid team-building around Luka. I approve.

...also, doesn't Dinwiddie play best with ball in his hands? :dunno: Luka not gonna give that up!

I’m so tired of…it’ll be better in the off season…it’ll be better timing at the draft…wait for the next trade deadline….
DO SOMETHING

I think this will be the standard response for the majority of Blazer moves the next 3 years.

It started with the Clippers trade.... "wait for follow up deal" "wait until we get cap space" "flexibility"

We are full on rebuilding and its going to be a long losing road ahead.

fuck me, if I hear another reference to THT i will shoot myself in the teeth...

Porzingis intrigue around the league sure fell off. Supposedly the next Dirk lol

Porzingis is like the anti-matter CJ McCollum on this board. Ninety percent of the board thinks he's amazing. I see a 7-2 guy who plays like a 6-5 guy without the handle.

Cowherd got his big start in PDX too. He's

You don't watch the NBA TODAY show much, do ya. She has a gleem in her eye when mentioning the Lakers.
Dude that's just an ESPN thing. She's programmed to build up the big teams. And I like it when her eyes gleem.

If you take away Dirk's handle, Dirk's back-to-the-basket game and Dirk's toughness, it is a good comparison.

because “cap space” is a plan built on wishful thinking.
Without cap space the Blazers could not make any changes. Now they theoretically could. It either works or it does not - but it was a necessary step.

The cap space will either be used to sign FAs (not likely), not lose players the organization values (Simons over CJ / Powell) or be used in uneven trades.

It was a necessary step. Without it - we are stuck with the same, non-winning, over-paid roster going forward - and might lose the pieces the organization wanted to keep (Simons, Nurk potentially) because of monetary considerations.

So, frankly, the bitching, while understood, is unreasonable unless people believe the roster before these trades was a winning roster.

Lol

Never ceases to amaze me that every year that we have this ‘magical’ cap space, August 1st comes around and Blazer fan are refreshing their phones to hear about this great Free Agent signing only to be damn near depressed that other teams are getting those nice shiny FA’s, while we’re getting the leftovers out of the bargain bin.

Some haven’t figured this out I guess.

Unless we’re planning just to re-sign our own players to bloated contracts, cap space don’t mean shit to me.

I get it, but when was the last time we had a coach that is well respected by players around the league and a new GM? Why do you want to pull the trigger now on Dame without at least seeing what happens in off season?
So that s cool you want to move Dame, I want to wait and see.

We've had plenty of new GM's. Coaches like Mo Cheeks were respected too. None of those will get us a contending roster now. The problem is a rebuild are 2 parts; tearing down what you had surgically, and then building it back up perfectly using that foundation.

A great GM will get maximum value on the tear down, so the team is setup well to build. Cronin has failed at that.

So now it really doesn't matter how great the GM is going forward, there is no foundation to build back a contender. We got an empty lot and there is no concrete available this summer.

Many of us see the writing on the wall that a contender can't be built around Dame in the coming years. Maybe others are like you and want to see the story play out first. Thats fine for you, but thats why were going to post the way that we do.

Justise and a couple seconds for him. See what he's got and then we can pay him more than anyone else can in the off season if he's worth it.
we can absorb him into our TPE from the LA trade. No need to send out Winslow. But Jake says Denver is pursuing Smith also.

Its why you utilize the draft and trades.

If you have a non-winning, overpaid roster you trade it for players with upside who can play and/or picks to mix up the staleness. You don’t unload 2 starting quality players for 2 guys who likely aren’t in the future plans and a C-list prospect.
