The difference is DeSantis actually believes in the shit Trump is espousing. Trump is just an egotistical clown putting on a show. DeSantis believes in the hateful rhetoric of the far right and seeks to make it reality. Trump just wants to be liked. Trump is a demon jester. DeSantis is the devil.

I couldn't agree more. And that is exactly why DeSantis scares me far more than Trump. DeSantis is deadly serious about what he is doing, he doesn't care what anyone thinks, he has NO sense of humor and far, far worse, he has some actual intelligence. None of that bodes well for the future of the majority in this country. The man is an American Putin waiting to happen.

Exactly, DeSantis isn't doing it because of some ego complex. He's doing it because he believes in it.

DeSantis is going to bide his time though. Trump will run again in 2024. As long as he does, DeSantis won't run. They share too many supporters. He can just win re-election in Florida and wait Trump out.

If Trump decides to run and is then charged for crimes connected to January 6th, and becomes inelligble to run, which is possible, DeSantis will step in.

At this point, if Trump runs he will run unapposed on the right because the other potential candidates are cowards. (Well I could see Cheney running against him as she has nothing to lose now). DeSantis though will wait behind the curtain to strike until Trump is not running one way or the other.

I'd rather we don't give the ultrarich tax cuts and spend that on improving infrastructure for all Americans.
