Looks like you're blacksplaing on something that isn't your culture.

Looks like you say stupid things.

My Filipino buddy would slap someone in the face for calling him an F word. No joke.

I have one nurse and two technicians that work on me most of every week and none of them would slap anyone. They are the nicest people you ever met.

Side note: I have one Samoan technician, just entering his last year of medical school at OHSU, who also works on me on a regular basis who may be the nicest person I've ever met. Spent the whole summer assisting in a variety of operations all gratis in American Samoa. What a guy. Just thought I'd throw that in 'cause I really like nice people (Sorry, El Presidente, j/k).

Because I couldn't possibly know anything about Filipino culture because I'm black...

Fuck RIGHT off....

When you are lecturing actual filipinos on what is and what is not offensive to filipinos, you are basically doing what you call whitesplaining (but its blacksplaining since you are black).

Because, I couldn't possibly know any of that as a black man...

I'm simply asking you to keep it real. You're not.

The filipinos talk shit behind your back.
The samoan guy would stab you if he thought he could get away with it.

Really? Think for a bit on that one...

One of the first things you learn about another culture is how not to offend them...

Trump gets so much cover for being such a blatant racist.

Think on my comment? Believe me , I did before making it.

You stepped in it big league.

He gave you several chances to not do so, yet, well, you did anyway.

That had nothing to do with Trump, me or anyone but your own stubborn self.

D, I like you, I would have said nothing else had you not asked for a response

I didn't step in ANYTHING. Flip is a racist word through and through and he's just being @EL PRESIDENTE.

The fact that you don't think I know this is also telling.

Flip isn't racist. The DMV wouldn't allow racial slurs on license plates (how many of y'all remember the "FLIP X" Honda Accord back in the day?)

  • Flip – used to refer to American-born Filipinos. The term has vague origins with many hypotheses regarding its origin. It is suggested that the term originates from the World War II era. The term was allegedly an acronym for "fucking little island people" causing some Filipinos to avoid referring to themselves by this term. However, the term is also being reclaimed by some by changing the alleged originally meaning of the word to "fine looking island people". Some are convinced that the term is just a short version of the term "Filipino".[40]

Just like the a version of the N word....

Only that he's wrong and doing it to cover a racist.

Ask your Filipino family members.

Okay, for starters, the term came into use after the US took The Philippine Islands from Spain, an outcome of the Spanish American war. The Filipinos decided that they no longer need a protectorate status, and we got into a real war from 1899 to 1902.

Originally the term Flip was used by troops to dehumanize those we were at war with. This has historically been a common practice, Germans have been Huns, Jerrys, Krauts ect, Japanese was shortened to Japs..you get the drift.

Until WW2, There was not a lot of love towards America, post WW2 we were better than the Japanese but not by much with the exception of troops that had served with US forces. The Philippines gained independence in 1946. There was a generation that was pro American but the longer we had big military bases and influence in local politics that rapidly faded. A lot of the kids that grew up in the 70s, 80 and 90s were a mixed bag. They enjoyed the American lifestyle yet retained the close family unit structure.

So that brings us to the kids that grew up in the 90s post Subic bay Clark Airfield closure, or the children of those families that have immigrated to the states. Close nit very family orientated and respectful of their elders. Scholastically advanced. While I have never heard anyone my age use the term, I have heard the kids use it. Pity the kid whose mother caught wind of it.

For us 90s cats, it was like a a cool (hype) term.

Flip was an identity. We were flips. We had crews. We rocked Cross Colours and shit like that.
