The best time for CAPSPACE? in TWO YEARS?

I've been thinking about capspace as it's been a big topic with the Blazers having the potential to have a lot of it next summer when some big FA's will be available. But some other teams who are likely more desitnations will have it as well. So how valuable will it really be? And when is the best time to use it?

My thoughts then go ahead two seasons when the new CBA and it's much higher LUX Tax kicks in. Might that be the best time to have capspace to get some other assets that other teams may be somewhat desperate to unload? I'm not saying not make deals or do FA signings before that, but it may be a good idea to keep some powder dry (capspace) for that time frame, in fact for POR it may be more important than having capspace next summer.

If the Nets are unable to secure Dwight Howard, I would make a big push for Deron Williams. I would love to see DWill in Portland. I don't see D12 or CP3 coming here, but I could see Williams. I just have a feeling that he wants to win, and having Aldridge, Batum, Wes, and maybe a lottery pick would maybe get him in a Blazers uni.

He will be available and it's certainly worth the effort, but if can't get him which the odds suggest we can't, then leaving some for the following year may be a very sound strategy.

Well I definitely wouldn't blow the cap space just because we have it. This is a critical point for the franchise. How they use the cap space, how they draft, how they trade is all crucial in which direction the team will be going. I wish we had Pritchard.

And we dont really need to use the cap space to get a max player (unless we can land D. Will). Looking at the Un-restricted, there is a huge talent pool. Or, we can use the cap space to get some lop-sided deals as well. Maybe even trade for picks to grab guaranteed rookie players. It's more of the flexibility to do much more.

exactly, we have to think like a criminal here and try to "steal" guys from teams who possibly need to get under the cap

If we can't land Rondo I think in two years we'd be in very good position to throw big money at Jrue Holiday.
