Awhile back, I semi-jokingly added this HCP quote to my sig:

We will start 10-10 and everybody will be freaking out!

In all reality, he may not be that far off.....if not right-on..

The Portland Trail Blazers schedule is very difficult to start the season. It features 13 games played away from Moda Center, with two road trips being at least four games. A chunk of these road games will also be in the midwest part of the country, making the travel schedule very difficult.(CONTINUED....)

12-8. I think half the road games and all but one of the home games would be a decent start. 10-10 wouldn't be terrible either though. 6-1 at home with 4 road wins? Not ideal, but not the end of the world. I would be most concerned if they won less than 3 of the road games in that stretch.

And I didn’t say 10-10 as a BAD thing. With that schedule, that’s pretty damn good.

Recent Blazer teams historically start fast. They enter the season with a chip on their shoulders after being dissed and dismissed the entire off season. I mean, Jesus, there are NBA pundits out there saying they won't even make the playoffs this year.

.

huh?

2015-16: were 8-12 after 20 games and 11-19 after 30

2016-17: were 10-10 after 20 games and 14-20 after 30

2017-18: 9-7 after 11 of 16 home games; then 12-8 after 20; then 16-16 after 32 games

last year: 12-8 after 20 games and 17-13 after 30

IMO, a fast start would be at least a 60 win pace. That would be 15-5 after 20 and 22-8 after 30. Last year was their best start and they were on a 49 win pace after 20 games and a 46 win pace after 30. Sorry, but Portland hasn't recently had fast starts...they've had stronger finishes

***************************************************

all things considered, if the Blazers are at 11 or 12 wins by the 20 game mark, they've done pretty well.

Idk...I feel like 8-12 is a possibility and we'd still be fine.

15-5 to start season.

Well I got us at 9-11 but as I said in my previous post we could easily go 8-12. What are with those start times? Do you live on the east coast or something?

See here is the thing. A number of people have said this. We said it the day the schedule came out. But invariably there are those who are thinking 13-7 or 14-6. Then there are the ones who have said 10-10 but will say "But it's the WAY they are losing that has me worried". A 10 - 10 start will not be looked at as a good start by most. It will be even worse when ESPN airs and Around the Horn or PTI are saying that the Blazers are struggling with the new additions after reaching the WCF's last year. Then they will go on and on again how it will take the Clippers and Lakers a month or two to get all the new additions working well together. Of course they won't give the Blazers the same credit.
At that point things around here might get tough to read. But in the end barring major injuries the Blazers will rise to the top again this year.

I have 15-5, as well. Slightly different way of getting there.

Can't say i don't hope you are right but seriously you have them winning the fourth game in five nights on the road and the second of a B2B on the first night back from a road trip. You have them amassing a 8-4 record on the road to start the season with a team that will still be trying to figure things out? This would be essentially putting then on pace to win a chip in the first two months.

I'm the guy who predicted 18-0 one season. I've become much more conservative.

And? ;)
