Kevin Love’s breakout double-double (23 points and 24 rebounds Tuesday night against the Lakers) only underscored the bizarre dispute between the 22-year-old and coach Kurt Rambis over his minutes. Love has been walking a fine line between publicly grumbling and saying the right things of late, and other teams have taken note. One team that would be an ideal fit for Love, Houston, has explored the possibility to the point of presenting trade scenarios to the Wolves. Coach Rick Adelman lives in Love’s hometown, Lake Oswego, Ore. Adelman's son, Patrick, was a teammate of Love’s in high school. Those overtures, sources say, have been met with an icy response. Another team to keep an eye on with regard to Love is the Trail Blazers. No stranger to frontcourt injuries, Portland doesn’t want to get caught shorthanded again.

Sounds like pure speculation but interesting anyway.

Apparently you should never read the cnnsi rumors. If the quote in the OP was indeed a quote, then SI butchered it in their Truth and Rumors seciton:

Actually I believe Minnesota is in desperate need of a PG amazingly enough. I have read several reports they were actually looking at holding tryouts they were so desperate. Ridnour is hurt. Flynn is hurt. Rubio is in Spain. Bassy is their only PG.

i wouldnt trade batum for love....

however oden and change for love..... i would think bout that

Would you move Aldridge to center or have Love on the bench? Or would you bench Aldridge now that he is finally balling? I would wait to trade Oden until the deadline when we know what's going on with him and then only for someone extremely solid in a position of need. Is SG a position of need now?

Camby and LA still starting, with Love off the bench, which is probably where he belongs anyhow on a decent team.

I'd be fine with getting Love, but I would never consider giving up the following players to get him:
Oden
Roy
Aldridge
Batum
Miller
Johnson

I'd also hesitate to give up Matthews and Cunningham, because they can play defense. Maybe Kahn would be interested in the rights to Claver and/or Freeland? Perhaps as an enticement to get Rubio over?

Wait...what?

I would love Love. But, I don't think Kahn is going to deal with Portland anytime soon.

Nah, if we had something he wanted (Oden right?) I'm sure he'd talk it over. That whole Martell business about him being "damaged goods" is bullshit and he knows it.

Whoa, Claver AND Freeland?! Don't give up too much there.

Wouldn't that be crazy if Kahn traded for them, and then was stuck with half a team of players who won't come over from Europe?

16.6 PPG
12.8 RPG
20.8 PER

He's doing this at age 22. He wont be cheap if he's even available at all.

He's a very good player. If MN gives him away then they're fools... of course, Miami gave Beasley away, so one never knows.

Ed O.

Kevin Love attempts over two 3's a game and he only shoots 33%. This is your PF.

Gross.

I wouldn't mind the Blazers getting some Love, if the price was right.

You can't overpay for Love. That's a classic error.

I actually think Love is a very good player. He's not the type of player I like, but can't argue with his production, really. Well, you can, but it would be silly to do so.
