For one that is a bunch of bullshit. Two, the other men in the lineup look nothing like him, nor do they at all resemble the suspect. Three, he doesn't really look like the suspect either.

I hope the find against the police on this one. They shouldn't be able to manipulate pictures in lineups to try and make them resemble suspects. If that is all they have, they shouldn't have arrested this man.

We once had a guy accused of rape who was in my platoon. Some sergeant asked for volunteers to appear in a lineup but we had to all be White because the alleged culprit was White. I volunteered for reasons I do not understand except that I was young and had a wild hair up my ass. I could say the same for the others who volunteered.
The guy was picked out of the lineup and went to trial. I do not remember the result of it all.
Yeah, don't recall but the coppers might have gotten my mug shot. But I'm no stool pigeon, see!

I'll play devil's advocate here.

If they had not removed the tattoos he would have been ID'ed anyway. Nothing says criminal like face tattoos.

He was fingered by 2 associates who knew he currently had tattoos on his face.

It appears likely it's him, as the mouth, ears, and nose are excellent matches.

He could have gotten the tattoos right after the robberies.
