How do you change a flat tire while rolling down the road?

In other words, how can we find solutions to keep small businesses open while successfully fighting the coronavirus at the same time? Are these calls going to continually be made at the state/city levels?

Been laid off since mid May. FINALLY got a call in to someone that sounds like could actually help with getting unemployment started up for me. Not gonna hold my breath on it. At least some of my old co-workers finally started getting paid after 3.5 months of nothing.
First off, I sincerely hope you are able to get caught up. That sounds like it would be incredibly rough. I wish you the best going forward.
Secondly, if you're looking for something and live in the Portland area the place I work for has a bunch of openings send me a private message if your interested, they've got positions from engineering to management to production. This might be the best part for you, even if you were hired you probably wouldn't ever have to see me because I'm typically off in the engineer corner typing vigorously on code editors or s2, and I don't leave my hovel very often.
Definitely most importantly hope things get better for you going forward sorry to hear that you haven't been able to collect your unemployment benefits.

Can somebody on here with knowledge of how Wall Street works please explain to me how restaurants and businesses are failing and closing left and right, yet NADAQ is so strong? How does that shit work?
I myself have 5 or 6 friends who have either had to shut their businesses down or are close to. ANd isn’t unemployment really high right now?
It's shit like this that make me question why socialism, universal healthcare, and liveable minimum wage, etc etc etc become such triggers for the right. I said it months ago, the true economic effects of the pandemic aren't going to be realized until next year. Basic human necessities will be tough to come by. And yet we want to push this pseudo capitalism down people's throats.

How is it a true capitalistic society when organizations and large businesses get bailed out all the time? Yet another hypocrisy that the GOP and its sheep try to peddle.

Its gonna take a hybrid. Capitalism kept sustainable with small sects of socialist programs. Socialism would not be able to sustain itself without the like.

Curious. Set up all these socialist programs requiring massive amount of funding(supplied by the rich) And then when the rich run out of money in 50-100 year,s how is the government going to sustain these programs without having this country dive into complete chaos with breadlines and famine?

Its been tried before and massively failed. i'm sure you know this.

What I see is limited government and freedoms are triggers for socialists. There is another side to the coin. Another viewing angle than what you see. I hope you become aware of this.

Thank you. Super generous of you to offer with sincerity. I'm doing alright. I've always wanted to retire by 40, so for now that's what I'm going to pretend. For my family, its more important for now that I'm home, helping my daughter through the virtual schooling process. I'm fortunate enough to have that privilege.

If you finally get that catch-up payment, it's gonna be nice.
Happened to me thanks to @SlyPokerDog . He pointed me in the right direction for help and it worked. Can't thank him enough. 23 unemployment checks showing up at once was nice. Unfortunately, now my work is over again this week and I will have to get in the back of the line.

I'm still waiting for my 20% commission on that.

Trump International Hotel Vancouver is permanently closed

Three and a half years after it first opened its doors, Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver has permanently shuttered.

Sources wishing anonymity told Daily Hive Urbanized the hotel property has closed for good, and that staff were laid off Thursday. At its peak, the hotel’s operations employed about 250 people.

On Thursday, TA Hotel Management, the local operating subsidiary of the hotel and tower, filed for bankruptcy, according to Canadian federal government records.

In filings to Malaysian regulators on Friday, TA Global Berhad, the parent company of TA Hotel Management, stated the impact of COVID-19 “has impacted the business and [its] financial position,” adding that “its ongoing expenses since the outbreak of COVID-19 and lack of revenue has placed TA Hotel Management into a position of insolvency.”

My father once taught me how to change a flat tire without a jack. We had a flat tire and he had no jack so he used that method to change the flat tire to a full sized spare.

Trump know bankruptcy better than anyone else and that's why he alone can fix it.

HCP, excellent question.
I've wondered this for many years and I recently learned the answer. The DOW is based on 30 of the largest companies with no small nor even any mid sized companies represented. It's the larger companies that Trump is helping not the mid sized companies and especially not the smaller companies. It's the mid sized and smaller ones that are doing most of the suffering. The largest are raking in the dough like bandits. What am I saying, they are bandits.

The brunt of economic pain has been borne by young and lower-wage workers, whose jobs are typically more vulnerable to Covid-related layoffs.

“There is little doubt that the pandemic will exacerbate inequality in incomes and wealth, both in the short term and in the longer term,” said Miles Corak, an economics professor who studies income inequality at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Not this season. Been in this business 20 years and this will be the first season I’m not working Timbers games. They signed a new TV deal and went SUPER cheap. Not even using our normal TV trucks and cameras. You won’t see nearly the quality of super slo-mo replays and camera angels you have been used to seeing over the past years. Went cheap and didn’t bring in the normal crew. At least now I can maybe go watch a few in person.

Bummer. I think they’re making a mistake with that. Quality video is more important than ever right now in my opinion.

So I sit down to watch the Timbers game last night after the Blazers game...... at the 6 minute mark, the Timbers score their first goal. The broadcast was in a replay sequence and MISSED THE GOAL! The worst thing you can possibly do in soccer is miss a goal. Usually because there are normally only 1 or 2 a game. This is exactly what I was talking about earlier. WOW!

Wait until A.I. is controlling the cameras

Every time you make a typo, a camera angel dies.
