I don't think you mean cure, perhaps as a preventative measure. Just as many other things can help prevent, like phytochemicals, antioxidants, beta carotene, selenium, and vitamins C and E, not to mention a host of minerals like calcium, vitamin D, and B vitamins, having enough fiber and the right types of protein. There are so many things that lead to cancer, and so many that help in prevention. Zinc may be one that helps prevent, which is very good, but not a cure.

No, not just as a preventive.
This research tested cancer patients treated with zinc for two monthes (during chemotherapy) and showed very good results: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11360134

This research showed reduced tumor burden and size in cancerous mice treated with Zinc:

There's still no conclusive research that tested cancer patients treated with just Zinc for sufficient amount of time but there are more than a few researches that brought together show very good results.
