Seriously, why should I continue being a fan?

This franchise chose Vince Carter over Jason Kidd when they signed Carter to that extension. Even if Kidd wasn't complaining directly about Carter, those with any basketball knowledge should know that their games don't fit and the Kidd's has one less target to run with on the floor. That sealed Kidd's fate.

I can't believe the Nets traded away the only other Hall Of Famer they've ever had.

This is a sad day.

Kidd asked for a trade, Thorn traded him, what's the problem? They didn't choose Kidd over Carter, or Carter over Kidd. One of them requested a trade so they granted his wish.

i don't know how people on here can still root for kidd after the way he's acted the past two years. You'd think a guy would appreciate getting paid the max. Sorry, I'd rather root for Carter since he's at least been a good citizen and teammate during his time in NJ.

We pretty much sold DR J cause we were poor...we traded an aging PG before he lost value in order to gain a 24 year old starting PG, two first rounders and expiring contracts...

Two completely different scenarios.

I wouldn't consider Dr.J a curse at all. He's the one who put the Nets on the map in various ways. He led them to two ABA championships in 3 years, was an All-Star, and MVP...and the only way for the Nets to make it to the NBA, he had to be sold. So if it weren't for him, there'd more than likely not be a Nets franchise in the NBA. Dr. J is the best blessing to our franchise, as great as Kidd was, Dr.J laid the foundation.

Did the Nets suck after the Doctor? Of course. But, that was then and this is now. Let's see how it goes.

Kidd dogging it is still 150% the effort of Vince Carter.

Just stop. That is beyond silly

the team wasn't going anywhere as currently configured . . . this trade gives the team hope for the future. Kidd helped put them in this mess by demanding the max when his prior contract expired. As a player taht is shooting 35% from the field, rarely gets to the line, and plays shoddy defense, he is as much to blame for the Nets' woes as anyone.

Carter may, in fact, be more efficient without Kidd around.

The Nets have gotten rid of their less-athletic players and have cap room. There are more decisions that can and will be made--but at least now they are in position to make decisions that can actually improve the team; before they were pretty hamstrung.

I'll take two months of misery if it'll net them the #7 and #14 picks (fingers crossed on that one), and a team whose average age is several years younger than the one that they started the year with.

I don't see how you can really complain. Kidd wasn't taking this team anywhere this year and he wanted out. You got a solid trade for, landing Devin Harris and a two first rounders, and with how stacked the West is, those could end up being lotto picks, you never know. I can't see how you can complain really. The Kidd era was clearly coming to an end and it was time to move on. Plain and simple.
