Matt court is on campus. Parking can be an issue and you won't get students to go. They have a hard time filling it for the Ducks. It needs to be in a place where there is no other game in town. Maybe Corvallis......
My son took me there a few months ago for the Globe Trotters, full house, parked a block and a half away. It's on Franklin Blvd surrounded by parking lots and parking garages downtown are within walking distance and free at night. Train station a few blocks away. Corvalis does not have the population to support it. Like I said, the Ems have survived here as a farm team for a long time and to me it's a sensible location for players. I've been to Sioux Falls and Eugene is way bigger than that place.

The only reason you want Eugene to have a D league team is so you can be the admin of their fan forum. You're drunk with dreams of power.

The train station is a few blocks away from Matt Court? When did that happen?

I was joking about Corvallis, but seriously for it to work in Eugene the games could not be on the same night as the Ducks Men's team, the Women's team, and the nights they play HS BB games. (That is your market)

Plus the arena is too big to hold 3,000. It will look really empty with no atmosphere. It needs to be in a small town where they will adopt the team and support them. That will not happen in Eugene.

The Em are different story because their games are mostly played in the summer. No competition.

Maybe Seattle can be our farm team :cool2:

You realize Mathew Knight arena is new and not the old Mac Court tin can they used to play in I'm guessing? Train station on 5th, Franklin at the end of 7th or W 11th depending on how you approach it.

Yes I know where Matt Arena is. It is the train station I was wondering about. If it is in the same location as it has always has been then it is 1.6 miles away. That is a long walk in the rain.

only if you're a wimp (just kidding)

Seems to me our D-League team could play at Moda Center after the blazers move to Seattle.

I am a huge Ducks fans and go to quite a few games at Matt Court and parking is literally non-existant there. I used to use the parking garage under the stadium but I don't know if that is still available. Most people park near Autzen and then pay 5 bucks to bus it. I doubt UO would want anything to compete with the team though. Altman is building up a good program and they are finally getting the ticket buyers back. Despite Cancer-zano calling for his head and the Oregonian polishing Wayne Tinkles ball, every five seconds.

I don't like the fiba idea at all, makes for a not very fluid call up system if a guy is 20hours on a plane away then has to struggle with jet lag etc..

If we had loan system with FIBA, it would be for the whole season. No way in hell those teams would agree for an immediate call up.

I get that, it just doesn't sound like a very feasible option imo. It makes so much more sense to have a functioning minor league system like MLB has the cost to an NBA team to operate one would be minor in terms of the payoff of having a farm club they could actually control. So ridiculous that there isn't a system in place. Get it sorted out then add a supplemental draft after summer leagues.

Yakima has the SunDome that seats 6,800 or so for Basketball. Short jaunt on a plane to Portland.

How about having it in Portland? Players could get assigned to the dleague games but still fully participate in all the main Blazer practice. There's no college presence to worry about. Have it in a suburb that can call it their own or even in the Couv. Blazer fanatics would go just to watch guys like Montero play 5 minutes.

I'd love to have Portlands D-League team in the Couv. Tons of diehard Blazers fans up here, we deserve a piece of something Blazers. I think the Vancouver Vulcans would be catchy and ironically funny at the same time.

Why not just use the memorial? Isn't it right next to the Moda anyway? Is that too big or something?

Because in some place like the Couve it'd draw more people and there'd be a level of seperation between the towns.

I think it's a great idea actually. Lived up in the Couve for three years and they love sports. Sad that they never got that A ball team that was proposed near Clark College. Much better place than f-ing Hillsboro.

I know. The only ball of any kind we got is Clark and the Volcanos. No one cares about the Volcano's and Clark Coach "recruited" me but he did it so carelessly he came off rude as hell. So fuck them too.
