I don't think it had anything to do with Kobe, we lost as a team while he played rather well considering TS% and minutes. He was hitting from the three point arc, and FT line, which doesn't show up in FG%.

Regardless it is much ado about nothing, these comments were quite mellow imo.

I don't really see what the big deal is. He didn't say anything wrong. I'm sure he is annoyed with us and wants to play us in the playoffs. and frankly if we do meet them in thep layoffs, it would be us in trouble and not him.

Whatever, Kobe got 2 free points when he wasn't even touched. He just faded away, fell down and got to the foul line. I didn't see any Blazers get to the foul line without being touched.

Also, I don't know why Kobe would blame this loss on free throws, when Portland let them stay in the game due to piss poor free throw shooting. Kobe, you've got it backwards. But backwards, I heard that's the way he likes it.

Really? The Blazers would have nothing to lose. They are the 2nd youngest team in the NBA and wouldn't even be expected to play in the 2nd round vs. the Lakers. Kobe and L.A. have loftier goals, they think they are playing for an NBA championship. They really don't want to get into an old-school Blazer/Laker knockdown dragout series, where players get ejected, suspensions get levied, and egos get bruised. Believe me, that 2nd round series would go 7 games, regardless of who wins, and even if the Lakers manage to beat the Blazers, what they will have given Portland is far more valuable in the long term: experience, and a chip on their shoulder. I really see the Blazers as having a no-lose situation at that point.

I'm no Kobe fan, but this clip makes me respect him even more as a competitor -- he's blustering a bit, but you can tell he really does believe what he's saying; he wants us badly.

I'm sure a lot of Blazer fans would be upset if the entire third quarter had happened in reverse, I understand why it bothers him, though I don't make excuses for tonight we weren't better exactly. That's why I don't think it is a big deal, this is a norm in the NBA with complaining about FTs. And he should try to sweet talk his way into more free throws in the future, it's only logical.

Man, the Lakers looked awful. We played terrible, and still got it done. It would go 7 if we played them in the 2nd or 3rd round

Why wouldn't we be upset if the 3rd was reversed? We won that quarter by 8 points. :dunno:

Portland really was not at the best tonight. They normally don't give up so many offensive rebounds, they missed 10 free throws, and only shot 43% from the field, 36% from 3pt. We also missed about 5 dunks/layups. Tighten that up a bit and the 8 point win becomes another a 20 point blow out.

Yeah, the Blazers shot a bunch of them when the Lakers were fouling in the last 3 minutes of the game for no reason.

Highlight of the year? Watching Oden dunk on Bynum. Get used to it, Laker fan.

If you're wondering why he would complain about FTs, that is the only quarter where typically a fan of a losing team would get pissed off about. I don't really like to make excuses though, but you can see that based on this there really is nothing awkward concerning what he said. He was mad about the third in particular, it is a natural biased/true (depending how you lean, again I don't like to make excuses :) myself) statement. :dunno:
