Nobody in New York considers any of those guys good MCs so I don't see how they are overrated. but I agree with their wackness. What do you think of Clipse? I think those guys are strong.

from what I hear the east coast likes a lot of southern cats and I know Wayne gets a lot of love from everywhere.....I think the Clipse are dope, I just wish they'd expand their subj. matter a bit more, I've yet to hear their new album though....

new album is awesome though every song is all about selling coke...
to be honest, i'm at a point in my life where i think glamorizing the scumbags who traffic cocaine - i mean, there are other things to rap about that would hit just as hard. Why can't some of these cats do a political album? They might lose the gangster crowd but they would gain the college crowd. Crossover works pretty well for guys like Andre 3000 and Cee-Lo - crazy record sales for those guys. But I forgive their limited subject matter for how hard they hit on the mic. Some guys just have IT and I think they definitely have it

We've got a comedian everybody.

*waits on Karma to say how he hasn't followed hip hop in two years blah blah blah*

Wayne isn't overrated, for every person that likes Wayne theres a lot more people that hate on him, and this website is a perfect example. The only person who overrates him is himself.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why can't some of these cats do a political album</div>
You can only rap what you know about, and I'm pretty sure the Clipse probably aren't up on their politics.

From a lyrical standpoint, I think the Clipse are overrated. Because I keep hearing people talk about their lyrics like they are lyrical juggernauts or something, when I just don't see it myself. They don't have any creative concepts either, every song is the same message basically. But HHNF is OK. I just don't see what the hype is about.

i'm impressed with their delivery more than the lyrics. they really attack the mic

Well delivery isn't something thats hard to master. Almost any WC MC can deliver, just look at Game.

Well, Lil Wayne nor the Clipse have the lyrical stance to back up their hype. They are both overrated, one moreso than the other in different perspectives.

I completley disagree...

I think all 3 are whack.

Also Young Jeezy > Lil' Wayne on my most hated list now, the other day "I'm so Icy! and you're not icy at all, your jewelry look like it came out da middle da mall" came to mind, and I think I just about threw up.

It's amazing how some people manage to con Record Exec's into giving them a deal worth millions to make stuff I wouldnt even whipe my ass with.

You wouldnt wipe your ass with it but people in the hood feel it which is why Jeezy and Wayne go platinum.

Also, its not like Wayne changed his flow overnight, it started changing gradually from mixtapes to his third album. The ghostwriter rumor was pretty much a publicity stunt from Gillie Da Kid as well. Don't you think BG and Juve would have said something about it sense they had beef once they left? Supposedly Wayne doesn't even use the writing method either.

I'm not really disagreeing with what you said, because I take Wayne's music for what its worth, thats why he isn't overrated to me. When I listen to a Wayne album--I'm listening because I'm not in the mood for music with actual substance and a message behind it. I'm listening for a few catch lines/songs that I can play.

How is that credible at all? Do you realize that in essence you've put down the people in the hood with that statement. Very ignorant man. Sales don't attribute quality, have you never heard of that ideology?

Yet you rock a Nas sig.

Am I the only one that thinks Jeezy is worse than Wayne? Jeezy is just awful, while at times you can listen to Wayne.

No, I said the same thing a few posts up.

I'll give Wayne credit, in that every now and then he'll come up with a sub par punch line, but Jeezy just has nothing, its like hes a poet and he doesnt even know it type ish' with him.

I know sales don't attribute quality. How did I put down people in the hood? How many hoods have you been to in the South? Because thats where the majority of Jeezy's fanbase comes from, and I've seen it first hand. I've been to the swamp meets with Jeezy gear EVERYWHERE.

Actually, I wasn't trying to be funny. It's what you always do when someone mentions his name, so therefore I was just waiting for the inevitable. You get your balls all twisted trying to defend him.

Oh, by the way, stop taking everything so seriously, as if people have a personal agenda against you, whether it be people who judge your battles or people who hate on one of your favourite rappers. You need to relax dude.

I don't get my balls twisted trying to defend him. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but do you even read what I say about him:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I take Wayne's music for what its worth, thats why he isn't overrated to me. Also I'm not taking anything serious, I'm on a laptop typing. Plus all I did was tell Locke how I felt about how he judges. Of course I waited until I lost to tell him that, because it wouldn't make sense for me to tell him if I was still battling. He can talk about how we can rap, so I can talk about how he judges, it's just my opinion- I'm not taking anything serious. Fall back with that talk man, I'm on JBB to argue and have fun, its nothing to me.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How did I put down people in the hood?</div>
As NTC187 stated, Jeezy's/Wayne's music is trash. Why? It's the same dumbed down material every south rapper is focusing on right now, women, cars, drugs, guns, etc. There's no substance and from what I've gathered he has a rather good view of hip-hop and the respectable artists that are still around. In that sense, because of his knowledge of hip hop and because he might encompass the higher echelon of hip-hop's listeners into what it's true form is, you dumbed down the hood because you stated that they like that Jeezy/Wayne trash. You put them on the same level as Jeezy/Wayne. That's pretty low, considering those fellas aren't even toilet paper worthy.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How many hoods have you been to in the South?</div>
How in the hell does this matter? Are you implying that we can only gather information from first hand experience?

Well, you must be oh so lucky! I've got empty Congratulations certificates just waiting on your name. I live in the south, I witness the deterioration of hip hop first hand. It's sickening to see a dude pull up blastin' a Wayne/Jeezy CD or whatever else other hack showed up on MTV/BET this week.

As for the Nas thing, I was merely making a reference of how you can listen to Lil Wayne, and Nas. When Nas is the one that is strictly against the message and image Wayne produces.

A bit off-topic, but I grew up in a hood in the South, in Orange Mound, Tennessee, and nobody really gave a damn about Jeezy. It was all about Three-Six and the whole Hypnotize crew. It's pretty much the same way in all the other southern hoods where I've got family/friends: Georgetown, MS; Frayser, TN; West Memphis, AR; Decatur, GA; etc.

Florida isn't the South either. It's a completely different culture. Usually, when people refer to the south, they're talking about East Texas (Houston, etc.), Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the western parts of North Carolina and South Carolina.

Florida and the Atlantic Coast is nothing like Mississippi, Nawlins, Bluff City, etc.

BTW - "Southern" rap does not put an emphasis on lyrical content for a reason. It's not because they're not capable of it but rather because they simply value style over substance. Why is that a bad thing? Don't compare them to non-Southern rappers, because it's a different kind of music. That's like comparing apples to oranges.

My message to you: Let people like what they want to like. Everybody has different taste. What can you do about it?

I can't put them on any level they didn't put themselves on. I just merely stated what I think is true, and that is people from the hood like Jeezy. You think if people from hoods heard me say: "a lot of people from the hoods in the south like Jeezy" their going to get offended?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">

It matters to a point where you could see for yourself how people in the hood feel Jeezy's music and his entire "I'm a trap star" image. First hand experience makes a point.

How is Nas strictly against the image Wayne produces? Nas is the same person whose favorite rapper in the Game is The Game himself. The same person who has made songs with Game. Game basically produceds the same message Wayne does.

Well your talking in past tense, when you say nobody gave a damn about Jeezy. Thats because the time you grew up in the hood was a different time. Jeezy just stepped on the scene about 2-3 years ago.

Florida isn't the south? What is it then? Florida isn't really in the southern hip hop game as much as the other southern states, but I'm not sure why you think the culture is completely different. FLA is definitely influenced by ATL, and Houston, etc.

I just moved up here this year, and I was back home all winter break.

Florida's different not in terms of hip-hop necessarily, but more importantly, in terms of culture. I've been to Florida on vacation a lot... Miami, Tampa, Destin, etc. That's like my one vacation spot where my parents could always afford to go and camp out in our trailers, and we didn't just do the whole beach thing but made it all around the state. I'm not claiming to know as much about your area as you do, having grown up there, but hell, there's a noticable difference in the way people speak, dress, act, etc. It's not the "dirty" south. It's a lot richer of an area economically, it's a lot nicer of a climate, a different way of interpretting the English language, etc.

It's just not country, dirty, grimmy South. It's more like Southern California. I'm sure UK would know what I mean...

(and that's a compliment by the way... the rest of the South is a shithole, even in the burbs)

I'm in the Destin area right now lol. Niceville

.....But you have to be in certain parts of Florida. But your going to get a different vibe in trailers man. There's areas all over Florida that are just like the rest of the "dirty" south. Those areas aren't vacation spots. Pensocola, Duval, certain parts of Tampa, Ocala, etc are more "southern" if you'll say. Hell there's even a major difference in culture in the SMALL area I live in. Go from Destin and Ft. Walton and you could tell what I mean.

You live in Destin?

Holy ****, I am jealous.

That place is heaven... I wanna move there when I get a career bro'!

I know there are hoods and rough areas of Florida, and there are rednecky areas, but that's not really what I mean by culture. It's a real intangible quality...

BTW - I still can't get over that you're in Destin. Lucky asshole.

I don't really like Destin, its more of a ok I'm done with my career so I'm going to settle down place. Rather than what I'm looking for as a 16 year old. It is nice though.

<div class="quote_poster">A.F. Venom Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">My message to you: Let people like what they want to like. Everybody has different taste. What can you do about it?</div>
I can maybe direct people to something better. If you have an opinion, you should share it, in hopes that you find common ground with that person.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting A.F. Venom:</div><div class="quote_post">I can't put them on any level they didn't put themselves on. If they knew the back story, then yes. If you drop in and tell them, "Ha, Jeezy's a hack!" they could probably care less, but if you presented the whole situation it would go down different.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting A.F. Venom:</div><div class="quote_post">It matters to a point where you could see for yourself how people in the hood feel Jeezy's music and his entire "I'm a trap star" image. First hand experience makes a point.</div>
Yeah, but why if I can get that same information through different outlets. Being on the front lines isn't always the best way to come to information. Trust me.

Wayne and the Game, the same? That's an insult to both camps. They are both terrible, terrible rappers, that take away so much from the game. I will give Game the upper hand though, because he can make something hot without his daddy or ghostwriters.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VC:</div><div class="quote_post">(and that's a compliment by the way... the rest of the South is a shithole, even in the burbs)</div>
Hell yeah. I keep telling myself that I gotta move up north where the civilized people are.

BTW, Destin is nice, I went there this past summer and had one hell of a time.
